I just rolled a shammy, and I have to say I'm having a lot of fun on it. But.. I know that I won't be going enhancement. I played a combat rogue to 54, and I hate white damage. Though if I end up finding the perfect 2-hander I might put thirteen points into it, but no further than that!

I'm wondering what it would take to level as Elemental. Spell crit rating is a rarity at low level, and I'm told it's a must for element shammies. But.. could it be done, to level from scratch as elemental? And if it's totally possible, would you guys have any suggestions for how to do it?

I've got no idea how to play my shammy, so I'm putting the question out to the pros at it in hopes of striking gold =) Hell.. when I got my earth totem I had no idea what it was. I'm definately in need of some wisdom.

I'd say that enhancement shammys are the easiest and fastest to level but I hear what your saying about them getting boring. I figure enhancement shammys kick some serious ***, but it's like they're going through an identity crisis and pretending they're cheap rogue rippoffs. I switched between talent builds a lot while I tried to find one I liked best. I had a hybrid between enhancement and elemental for the longest then at level 66 I respeced to flat out enhancement to try it on, and now at level 68 I switched to elemental and now I'm kicking out the dps. Elemental is pretty gear specific with critical strike dependencies and all, but it's still a fun build. I'd recommend that you try it if not at the beginning then near end game.

I would level as Enhancement until at least 30. At 30 you can have enough points in Elemental to at least be decent.

I leveled from 60-70 as Elemental and loved it alot more than Enhancement. The advantanges was that I had FAST cast times, clearcast procs, Unrelenting Storm, and elemental mastery. On top of that, I could tough it out in melee range for a long time.

Its a great spec to level with, you just need to talents to make it happen. Once you hit 58, leveling will be a breeze because you can start gathering great gear.
