Healers...Follow

Trying to make a healer becuase they seem to be essentials for dungeons and raids or any grouping, but Priests seem a little too fragile to solo with and level, and since there are no nice people that just want to group up and quest, will it be too hard to solo with a priest, or is it not so bad?

I would go so far as saying priests are maybe the best soloers. Well, shadow priests. The best way to solo with a priest is to go shadow, but as a shadow priest I hardly ever lose health and I regen the mana I use each fight between mights, which basically means I can go on and on non stop. They are very very efficient.

Absolutely love my shady Draenei. Can take on a group of 4 a level or two above me with MC and fear, no problem. Shadow doesn't really kick in til you're 30ish though, so be patient. It may seem like you're not getting anywhere, but in time you'll be one of the most lethal toons out there. Plus as a priest you're still one of the best healers in the game, especially once you can work on your different healing and dps sets. Practice healing in the lower instances, it's one of the hardest things to do in the game and takes a lot of finesse, but the rewards are huge. Anyone who yells at a healer is a douchebag, unless the healer is completely incompetent i.e., doesn't buff or even try to communicate. It's happened to me, and I switched from dps to healing and we all made it through. But yes. Go shadow for leveling, and you'll thank yourself for it. Now get out there and melt some faces.

Leveling a Shadow Priest is super EZ mode, even when it comes to even level elites.

well....

disc priest = hard to kill

holy priest = really good at healing

shadow priest = glass cannon, shadow mage.

that says it all. SPs are good at soloing but you sacrifice main healing in instances, disc priests never die in BG but you sacrifice hard dps, holy priests heal your face off with massive crits but are the most squishy of the 3...you can do anything with a priest, but you can only choose 1 thing to be really good at. roll a priest to heal...soon ppl will realize that the only reason we have shadow is to solo...were a healing class that CAN dps, not a dps class that can heal.

GL! ^_^

I leveld as shadow from 1-40 and switched to disc/holy with 40.

It only takes a bit longer to level, but i have chosen a healer, therefore i should do the best what my class can offer, being holy/disc.

Personally i dislike shadow priests. Most of them are mages which still want to have the "needed" feeling. I see shadow priests in BG´s watching 3-4 ppl die and not even popping out of shadow form.

Gnlpfth.

Not popping out of Shadowform sounds like a flaw in the player, not the class. That person doesn't understand the concept of team. I hope you meet some others that change your mind.

I play Shadow and will absolutely switch stances to break off a heal or two. I carry around two sets of gear and will switch frequently at different times through an instance or party run. I didn't spec shadow because I have a mage complex, I needed an efficient leveling build. Soloing Holy is like watching paint dry. :-)

I speced discipline because I do BGs a ton. With a ton of healing gear, it is nearly impossible to die. Leveling up I have found that I can take on mobs 5+ levels above me, but it just takes a year to kill them. Grinding takes a lot longer on a disc spec priest than another dps class, but if you mix in bgs and instances, its soooooo fun. You'll quickly realize how fun it is when you and one other person manage to mow down 4-5 people in a battleground just because people cant kill you. But yeah, spec shadow for fast leveling, not my style though.

Uh, no.

I've leveled a Mage to 70 and I'm currently working on a Priest who is level 63. The two classes are nothing alike in a group environment.

Both bring something completely different to the table. Mages bring AB, water, food, great DPS and poly. Shadow Priests bring an extra PWS, VE, VT, an extra shackle and great DPS.

Blizz has given priests a pretty awesome and quick way to level in the Shadow Tree. I leveled my Dwarf from 1 to 57 shadow in a good amount of time. I switched out to holy hybrid because I'm my guild's main healz.

Even when BC came out, I stuck with being the holy hybrid, because well, with the new dungeons out, everyone needed a healer, so I pretty much ground my way from 60 to 70 via dungeon/elite quest runs.

My advice? If you don't have a guild to run with at 60+, stay shadow to solo level to 70. But if you got the guild, they'll def want you as the heal bot once you hit 60.

And I <3 the healing ^.^

Just wish they didn't make Pallys/Shammys the more powerful freakin' healers.... *grumble*
