maybe it's my old fingers... and semi retiring reflexes...

but i jsut cant seem to get intervene to work or for that matter, spell reflect... seems a bit of a mystery for me...

Spell Reflect... so pop this like shield block whenever i can, right? it stays on for a couple of secs and reflects whatever spells? does it go back and hit the caster?

as for intervene...
so, i gotta click intervene, then click on a toon that is getting beat on? damn... it is too much mouse travel... anyone got a macro for mouseover?

am i missing something?

thanks...

Yep, spell reflect does exactly what it says on the tin. Any incoming spell/curse about to hit you is reflected back at the attacker. In reality not useful in a lot of high end encounters as many of them are not affected by it.

Intervene on the other hand has saved a raid more than once in my experience. We had a slip up yesterday on moroes when both tanks became disabled and moroes was running off to gank a clothie. The paladin cleansed me, switch to target of target and then intervene. It is a VERY useful skill for when something goes wrong. It also comes in handy when you are feared for any reason and have to get back to save someone fast. I would suggest that maybe if you keybind it to something a little easier to remember it would be substantially more useful to you. For example I have mine set to the 'g' key so that in the above case I can simply hit 'fg' to intervene on my target's target. Then its just a case of switching to last target to regain aggro.

*cough* *still pointing to FAQ*

There are macros (that I've... written) that don't require you to drop your target to Intervene, and will instead Intervene the enemy's target if you have a hostile targeted.

Spell Reflect has to be up before the spell finishes casting, if the spell is in mid-air it won't have any effect. On the other hand, if you have a spell in mid-air and get hit by an insant-travel spell (for example, hit Spell Reflect before Pyroblast leaves the mages hands, and then he casts Fireblast) it will reflect _both_. Spell Reflect will reflect any and all spells cast from the time when the first spell is finished casting until that first spell actually reaches you if it has travel time.

So, in practical terms... hit Spell Reflect right before Pyroblast -> PoM Pyroblast -> Fireblast and it will reflect ALL THREE. It's quite fun, and the mage is quite dead.

*cought* thanks RPZip... =)

and thanks guys...

so Spell Reflect does zap it back to the caster...

hmm... where's that warlock guildie of mine... i gotta practice the timing a bit...

cool, i did some reading for a change...

/cast [help] Intervene; [target=targettarget,help] Intervene

so basically, i keep my target on the boss and click on intervene macro when he is running loose... seems much easier than all that mouse travel..

thanks!

If you have "Target of Target" on..not only is tanking easier, but intervene is cake. =) Just click intervene, then the friendly target of the mob.

At least with spell reflect, it usually negates the damage you WOULD be taking. Even if the boss is immune or resists it.

There are a bunch of mobs that spell reflect has no effect on. You can put spell reflect up and it hits you right through it. Namely the Spell Shades right before Aran in Kara.

I use spell reflect on the big biotch with flaming ***** hands in Arcatraz right before she casts that gift of 'suck'. I dunno the real term nor do I care. All I know is that after whirlwind, I Shield Slam her or shield bash, or change stance and intercept to stop her self heal. Then right after that she normally pops that curse on you where she gets healed everytime the healer tosses you a heal. Thats when I use Spell Reflect. Sometimes I forget and don't pay attention to her cast bar and get hit with the curse and then its back to square one because the noob healer crit heals me for 6 or 7k.

I use that same macro. Pretty fun once you get it down, easy way to get agro back, as your running"intervening" to the targets/target just hit taunt as you pass the mob and its your again and even did some kiting skills :)

rp's macro is gold. i'm a big fan of

bloodrage > shoot > pull waaaaaaay back

pulls and switching that into a

bloodrage > shoot > runaway > intervene healer

adds at least another 10-15 yards on the pull.
