Folks;

Sorry is this is a n00b question, but I don't know the answer. I have read that you can 'restealth' after 6 seconds of no combat. I have tried this, but my stealth button is 'gray'.... I can only restealth with 'vanish'. This cannot be what people are talking about. I had imp gouge and thought that would let you restealth but it never seemed to.

I think there's a thread on the front page with this exact question.

Restealthing during combat is only possible in PvP. If you have an NPC type mob aggroed to you, it is impossible to restealth unless you Vanish.

That, and it's 5 seconds, not 6.

If it was 5 and not 6, then I would easily be able to stealth while a player is still under the effects of gouge. And from my experiences this is clearly not the case.

If you were right, then there would be very little interest in improved gouge it seems. I have not tested it but read many times that it is possible to restealth during the "improved" duration of gouge.

From the Updated Rogue Guide:

CombatImproved Gouge: 0 Points in Combat Required
3 Point Talent, increased the duration of Gouge by 0.5/1.0/1.5 seconds. Seems pitiful, but after 5 seconds of not being in combat, you can restealth, and use another opener. This means that with at least 2 points, you can restealth after a Gouge, though due to lag you'll need to run off a bit first. A very nice talent for PvP, be sure to get 3/3 if you plan to PvP much.

Happy?

Taht's exactly what he's saying.

It's 6 secs, so if you put at LEAST 2 points in Gouge (1sec) then the it leaves you just enough time to restealth (1sec stuned + 5).
but if you get a lot of lag on your server you're better off with 3pts, just to make it safe.

Er... eh?

Gouge is 4s untalented, with full talents that's 5.5s. This gives you a .5s window before you can restealth when the opponent can hit you if he's fast on his fingers. Going only two points gives them a full second to react, which is usually sufficient for most people to hit you with _something_.

It's 5 seconds. Make sure you're behind the target and start spamming the stealth button as the 5 second marker approaches. The chances of them being able to turn and hit you before you get off a re-stealth are pretty slim.

Of course if you're in BGs, hanging around by a gouged target will invariably mean that someone else will attack you...
