Yesterday I was bored at work and was looking up how I wanted to re-due my talent points. I read on the rogue guide that gouge will allow you to re-stealth after you gouge on the mob. So I put 2 talent points in gouge, I am a lvl 44 rogue BTW... After I got my talent points set I went hunting gouged a mob ran away a bit and couldn’t re-stealth. Is there a trick to this? does anyone use gouge to re-stealth? I am about to lvl up and I can put the point to improved gouge... To me this ability sounds great if you are about to die.. but I cant get it to work.. any help would be great!!!!

Thanx

Gouge to restealth only works in PvP. After so many seconds (a blue could tell you how many, but alas, I cannot) of not attacking a PvP target, you drop combat which lets you restealth. This does not work in PvE no matter how many points you have in improved gouge.

After 5 seconds you drop out of combat. The above poster is correct though, as you will not be able to drop out of combat in a PvE situation unless you vanish, or run away.

Ok it did say something about PVP but not that it was limited to PVP. I guess I will have to check that out today...

The above information is indeed correct. In PvP, you will drop out of combat after your target is incapacitated for 5 seconds. However, this will not work in PvE, as the only ways to drop agro completely are to run, die, vanish, or kill your target.

Note that you also have to have the points in Improved Gouge in order for that to work in PvP. Otherwise, it won't last long enough to drop combat, and your enemy will be able to keep you in combat after the gouge wears off.

Gouge is a nifty ability to use when you have 4 combo points, even if you don't plan to restealth. Not only will it give you your 5th combo point, but it will also give you some time to regenerate energy. As soon as gouge wears off, hit your enemy with a Kidney Shot and keep a'whakin'. Very effective for dealing with melee classes. There are more effective ways to stunlock, but not until you get to higher levels and spend talent points in certain places.

About that kidney shot I never use it.. Maybe I will try, It just seems like Eviserate does more damage. but I guess in the long run my sinister strike will give as much damage, and more CP to use my eviserate...

I never used KS too much until I started reading about stunlock. Now I run almost every fight CS>BS>gouge>BS>KS>BS...rinse and repeat. Quite a bit of fun as well.

Actually, KS doesn't do any damage. What it does do, though, is completely incapacitate your target for several seconds, allowing you to have your way with them. When chained effectively with Cheap Shot, Gouge, Blind, and even Vanish and Sap, you can keep a non-frostmage locked down for about 30 seconds.

If you're in a BG, that's one less healer, or one less hunter, etc. Sure, you won't kill them very quickly, but sometimes, that's not the point.

Did you take into account the fact that they can blink?
