Ok i know you are all gonna laugh at me, but here is my proof that str helps hunters at RAP as well as AP

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/characters.html

read this. from the official site. it states that str affects damage output from melee and ranged weapons. :P on you!

Yes, but the wow website is horribly OOD. Note that their world map still isn't updated for TBC yet.
Also note that it only says agility will increase damage with ranged weapons. For hunters, agility is 1 melee and 1 ranged AP (as well as for rogues and cat-formed druids).
Wowwiki is much more updated.

(I know the OP is probably /sarcasm, I wanted to post this just make sure no noob comes on and goes "proof that I should load up on str!" and ruins our name yet again).

Personally, I want our name ruined. The more noob hunters, the worse the class will be considered. That leads to a) enemies underestimating and b) class upgrades!!

1) Tell everyone to melee only
2) ????
3) Profit!

Yeah I know that loading str is not the way to go. but i have been told that str does absolutely nothing for RAP which i have found to not be completely true... now granted it isnt like 1 for 1 by any means but it definately takes more str to stack 1 RAP than dex. That wasnt the point I was trying to put out. just that when people say. That has str u cant have it huntard. that that is not completely logical. specially if it is str 15 agil 15 lol. I love that 2 hand wep i found :)

No, it is completely true that str does not affect your RAP. MAP yes, RAP no. Agi affects both.

+15 str +15 agi is okay, but you could have gotten +24 agility, +15 agi +15 stam/intell, etc, which would be way better.

Step 1: Collect Underpants
Step 2: ...?

You are absolutely correct, there is a correlation between STR and RAP. Through exhaustive research (and a lot of help from all of the Hunters in my Guild) I have discovered the formula! But I'm willing to share with the Hunter community at large.

RAP gain from STR = (((STR - 10)3/5)0)

Here's another formula that might help you, courtesy of WoWWiki

Hunter RAP = Character Level * 2 + Agility - 10

from lvl 57 on, you get those kind of numbers on your weapon.

Just based on the +15/+15 model you provided, I looked up on the 2-handed weapons section for stuff with +15/+15, and found the equivilant of a single stat bonus. It was +24 ish.

Tits on a goose?
A screen door on a submarine?
A fat-free brownie?

Oh, I thought we were naming useless things. Sorry.

I use ravager. that axes proc hits quite often. and helps when solo tankin that instance.

okay, at that level you could get 21-22 agility. The 7 agility you gain is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the 15 strength you lose.

To be honest, I wouldn't consider a fat-free brownie useless. As long as it tastes good, I'd be all over it.
