Are nightelf priests as good as all of the others? And do you think their area sucks?

NE priests are cool, and their area does NOT suck. I leveled to 40 a NE priest and a NE druid, and the starting area is very good. at level 10 - 12 you can go to auberdine, or even to westfall if you like. so, level away. my mistake with the priest is that i got for him lots of "of the Owl" gear so now at 40 i have over 3800 mana and only 1000 health, which sucks because you die easily.. my advice to you is to get intellect and stamina gear, spirit is not that important, you drink and if you take the "spirit tap" talent you will have 100% more spirit several seconds after a fight. get lots of stamina and intellect, spec shadow, start wanding really early (i believe you can get a wand at level 6-7) and keep your wand levelled up, and you'll enjoy your priest.

the opposite is true. for the fastest levelling you WANT all the spirit gear you can get to maximize spirit tap (x4 spirit or something).

i have lvl 70 nightelf priest. if you wanna go shadow and do pvp, ne priests are good cause you'll have shadowmeld which will make you invisible for a while.. with tbc people started to get shadowpriests in instance and raid groups, too ^^ And healing is ok till lvl 50

but if you wanna be a healer, human and dwarfs have more usefull spells like desperate prayer, fear ward(dwarf).. NE has Elune's Grace(decreasing ranged dmg taken and increases dodge chance) and starshards (totally useless)

But nightelf starting area is cool that when i go darnassus or darkshore i miss playing there ^^

Up to a point. Int/Stam are still very important stats. A larger mana pool to begin with allows you to cast for longer and stam allows you to live longer especially when doing group quests or instances of for those times when you get jumped by multiple mobs. Generally when questing/grinding you can live without a huge amount of HP as your pulling 1 mob at a time so there shouldn't be any issues surviving the fight. It's in these situations where INT/SPIRIT are very effective. The trick is to find a nice balance between STAM/INT/SPIRIT. Having 300 spirit but sacrificing HP or INT to get it can get you into trouble really quick in a big fight. Spirit Tap is essential IMO while leveling even if you go Holy. Allows you to fight many more mobs without having to stop and drink.

Spirit Tap:
Quote:
Gives a 100% bonus to your Spirit after killing a target that yields experience or honor. For the duration, your Mana will regenerate at a 50% rate while casting. Lasts 15 sec.
So basically your mana regen is double for 15 seconds, or 50% more if you continue to cast after it procs.

Having leveled a 68 NE Shadow Priest I can say that the NE racials and specials really are useless. Shadowmeld is only marginally useful in PvP, Elune's Grace is a bad joke and I've all but forgotten I have it, Starshards is alright for the mana cost but it's a 6 second channeled spell that will almost never finish if your fighting a mob solo. It's a little more useful for Holy spec priests as it can do some nice DPS with it from time to time. For shadow priest though, 2 Mind Flays cost about the same amount of mana, cause about the same damage and can return health/mana to you and the party with VE and VT making it a much better option IMO.

I do think that Draenei and Dwarf races offer nicer abilities when rolling a priest but what it ALL comes down to is that YOU like the character. The racials/special abilities may be nice for one race over the other, but if you can't stand playing your dwarf priest because you think he looks silly... well how long do you think you will keep him around?

So true. Personally I wont roll a male clothie anymore. they look rediculous in robes... bah and even real stupid in tier armor. so its females for those. druids are female as well. the shaman for alliance... well thats gonna be female to... dont like draenei male model. but hunter pali warrior and rogue. all male. :) Maybe i am a tad to picky. :P

Since this topic will NEVER die (seeing as how there are about 500 threads on the same thing), I'll add my 2 cents.

UNDEAD...FTW.

I personally like the Nightelf starting area (more than Elwynn, at least).

My main is a NE priest, and I love to play her (even though now, I'd rather make a Draenei priest).

Starshards is okay (if you're specced holy, as I am). Shadowmeld is brilliant for PvP. (Until the hunters learn to use their track humanoids.)

Like 'em.

Plus they look nice in cloth (the females anyways). Yes, not as nice as BEs and Draenei, but still nice. I won't play any Alliance race except NEs and Draenei just because of the looks.

About the Stam/Int/Spirit discussion.
I personally carry two sets of gear with me, one for instances (about 70 int more), one for soloing and PvP (more Spirit, more Stamina and more Armor). I also have a mana regen weapon hotkeyed if I get oom during a bossfight and can't use a potion.
I don't use a lot of stamina gear in instances because I don't go with PuG tanks and simply don't get aggro.
Pickup tank = wipe too often.

But that's just me. ^^
