Hey I've been watching the forums for a while as my character lvls along and I just hit 70. I've been prot build for as long as I could remember giving people the good name that pallys can tank. But now I went fully holy and was wonder what is a good gear set for healing in Kara and where to find them. If anyone could link me the gear that would make me stand a chance through Kara I would appreciate it much thanks.

Personally, I want all the purple T2 looking gear(all healing focused). I'm sure I could find something better, but I love the look.

And when you're good, you need to take the time to look good.

I made a list of all the names and will post it if someone's interested(and if I remember). Unfortunately, though, it's on my comp at work and it'll be tonight before I get there.

Edit: I'm at work and remembered this so:

Mask of Pennance
Justice Bearer's Pauldrons
Breastplate of Many Graces
Cassock of the Loyal
Life Bearer's Gauntlets
Virtue Bearer's Vambraces
Boots of the Watchful Heart
Girdle of Many Blessings

Have a look at this thread also:

although some of the list was mentioned in above replies, it has also rings, weps, gems to consider.

If you show up in kara with arena gear, you're gonna get kicked.

Arena/BG gear is meant for PvP.

Get Purple judgement for PvE.

Both linked threads are pretty decent for gear advice and you can't go wrong with the "Purple Judgment" set. In addition to the weapons If you haven't done the Blood Ring quests in Nagrand, I'd advise doing so to pick up Mogor's Annointing Club (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=25759&locale=enUS;source=live). Granted, it's a lvl 65 healing mace, but with a good 5-man group it is easy to get and will do you just fine until you get the Lightsworn Hammer from Shattered Halls or the healing mace from Mech.

I know you said you were looking for pre-Karazan gear, but if your guild will take you as the "low guy" like mine did for me, you can pick up some very nice upgrades in a short amount of time. I was the only Paladin or Shammy when we went and within two full runs I had replaced most of my "core" gear, so with any luck you can too. Most bosses in there have great healing drops and, short of Aran, Nightbane, and the Prince, most are fairly manageable. The Maiden is one of my favorites simply because she drops mail healing gloves, plate healing bracers, and the Shard of the Virtuous (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28522&locale=enUS;source=live) on a somewhat regular basis. Again, it depends on the guild, but if you can get in there with little competition, you can upgrade pretty quickly.

In addition to gear, there are some great enchants you can pick up as well. Silver Spellweave thread for leggings is a boost of +46 healing and +15 stamina and is somewhat cheap to find mats for. If you're alliance there is a +35 glyph from revered rep at HH for a head slot and, as always, if you have an enchanter buddy you can get bracers, chest, shield, gloves, etc enchanted with healing, int, or Mp5.

Either way, welcome to the Combat Medic spec and best of luck getting geared up!

How much + healing should I be aiming for (pre-kara), that is my concern. MP5 seems OK and I have enchants to boost it.

Anarchism's number is pretty good. Before stepping into Karazan the class leader in the guild advised me and the other Combat Medics to look for FoLs around 1000 with and HLs averaging over 3k. Ballpark figures, I know, but that's about what I aimed for give or take a little for gear issues. It'll most likely depend on what other healers you guys take there to help you out. In that case, you can be a little on the "low" side for +healing and still look to gear up well. If you want to spend the money for crafted items you can, but I've never been a big fan of that. Since you'll be rep grinding instances at some point for goodies or for Tempest Keep attunement, parts of the "Purple Judgement" set should be fairly easy to obtain. And if you back out repair bills and pots, they're a whole lot cheaper.

Another factor that I know we debated about in our guild was stamina/intel over all +healing. There are some nice trinkets, rings, etc that have fantastic healing capabilities (i.e. Consortium Legguards), but something like the epic legs from Karazan, though they might not have the same healing numbers, will offer other boosts that make up for it. Since stepping into Karazan, I've only boosted my bonus healing about 300, but the increase intel and stamina has been more important in places like Gruuls and Mag's Lair. It may be splitting hairs, but I'd rather have mana to hit a tank with two 7k HLs rather than one 9k HL. If it helps at all, the target numbers we came up with for post Karazan are about 6500 HP and 8500 mana unbuffed. Buffed, the pallies are looking for about 10.5k for both. +healing I think we're all sitting at about 1500-1600.
It's not perfect or a "must," just numbers we hammered out that would be "okay" in those fights.

For pots, two helpful items are the Elixir of Major Mageblood for 16Mp5 as well as the Superior Mana Oil (14Mp5 when lovingly applied to a weapon) that an enchanter can make. They're relatively cheap to buy if you aren't an alchemist or enchanter and the mana return is not too bad.

A few amazing trinkets etc you can pick up to really help your healing stats are the Scarab of the Infinite Cycle (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28190&locale=enUS;source=live) from the last boss in BM (which, with any luck you get while getting attuned) as well as the Essence of the Martyr (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29376&locale=enUS;source=live) which I'm pretty sure is about 41 Badges of Justice with G'eras in Shat. There is also the prayer book from becoming revered with Lower City as well as the quested Blessed Book of Nagrand (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=25644&locale=enUS;source=live). Both of those have been very helpful in Karazan and beyond.

Anyway, a bit off tangent there and certainly no intent to insult anyone's intelligence. Just some stuff I wish someone had told me while I was getting attuned to Karazan. Hope it helps.
