Screech causes initial aggro to non-focus mobs because it is just SOMETHING that hits them. The damage done is only to the focus farget, the mobs aground him are aggroed because they got debuffed, but it is minimal aggro, soon as you heal pet/tank those mobs (if only affected by screech) will turn instantly onto your healer/self. I initially thought it did damage to all, but found out otherwise, it only does the debuff, which is why it does not break nearby CC. Used to I guess, but it no longer does.

That’s interesting. I’ve never been in an instance with a hunter using screech.

My Owl has Claw AND Screech, but I have GftT and I crit often enough he always has focus :P

Back in the olden days, *grins*, I tried using claw on one of my cats and I didn’t like it. That memory stayed with me for a very long time. Last weekend I finally put points into the focus regen skill. Vanyal tamed an owl and learned claw. I watched Sunspark’s growl icon very carefully for the next several battles and on and off all weekend long. Though growl was sometimes delayed a couple of seconds it always went off after refreshing. With bite, claw and growl all set to auto, Sunspark held agro just fine. I believe I’ll also be able to buy Go for the Throat as well. It might be overkill, but I think I’m going to go for it when I get the points.

with an focus dump like claw, you can never have to much regen. ever
your pet burns all its focus on claws in 4 seconds, let it do that as much as possible ;)

Long ago when Screech was added, it broke CC, Sheep and traps. The owl me was using was quickly released. If you think Screech is better than Howl, have you tried a wolf?

When did I say Screech was better than howl? Sorry if this comes across as rude but, if you read my post more carefully it just says that Screech is better for HOLDING AGGRO than FH.

I have a wolf and I love FH, but Screech generates more threat, not that it's better than FH.

Did read your message carefully, you did not read mine carefully.

You were referring to Screech being better at holding aggro than Howl. Knew what you were saying.

This quote is about screech.

I've been able to multi-shoot after pet has landed TWO screeches and not pull agro (off adds). Sometimes I do pull agro if multi-shooting, but often not if two or more screeches have landed. One screech... well, my memory's not 100% reliable. Maybe I should go test this. But I don't think Screech's agro is quite as weak as the above quote suggests, especially once more than one screech has landed.

you can indeed multishot after a few screeches (good crits pull aggro, but that is to be expected ;) )
and screech holds up against more then just 1 heal. it takes a lot more.
i have seen adds attacking my bird when the tank was bad, if it wasnt for screech, those 5.5k damage (on 40% reduction) would have hit the healer.

COnsidering 99% of the time (even though the percentage isn't that high) I crit with Multi- I pull aggro off of mobs affected by screech :( so all it does is keep those mobs off me, but if I heal my pet, they come to me :( maybe my screech is bugged.
