Question for you... Carrion Bird has +5% Armor, why switch to a wolf if it is a tough instance?

<<< Confoozled

Oh, and one thing that beats a Carrion Bird- a Dragonhawk, not just any Dragonhawk, but a Bloodfalcon named Halitoses, his breath is so bad you'll keel over :P

because my wolf gives his buff while standing next to me in a safe place, the bird has to get close to enemies (and thus AoE)

and dragonhawks intrigue me, i might catch one with my alt.. but my main does not and will not have any room in the stables.

Grrr, I get home after a long day at work, expect to be able to play, and their damn authentication servers are ******** up

That happens to me when the weather is bad, but hey.. you can play WoW!

I haven't played WoW in over a month due to a credit card issue, I sent them a cash order via mail 2 weeks ago, and still, no reply. I'm wondering if they are just going to keep my account banned outright. I sent them $30 and if I don't play WoW again soon... something bad will happen! I'm addicted and I need it back =P.

On a complete side note. I just went out with a couple of buds and this was stupid of me, but I wasn't think clearly at the time. My bud said take your foot out of your shoe and let me see it, so I did. He pulled out his lighter and literally LIT MY SOCK ON FIRE. The fire traveled right up my sock and all I felt was a warm feeling. My whole foot was on fire, it was amazing.\

Oh, does that belong in the Off Topic Forum?

That's why life is worth living =P

But seriously, this is a true story, don't try this at home kids because if you do you might burn yourself. If you are insance or stupid like me, ONLY use a lighter and only flick it for a second. It is as fun as hell to watch and it only makes your feet feel warm. It last for a couple seconds as it works you way to the top of your sock, but it is mad fun to watch.

Oh great, you ruined it, YOU RUINED IT!!!!!! Carrior birds hold aggro better than a wolf [due to screech, which is more effective than FH] and they can give a -200something attack power debuff making them also useful in groups.
C'mon Rooke don't give him a a pet to use if he's going to take it seriously and think that best is best/uber, tell him Way wayp wiy saah tal! and go to Petopia and/or read the sticky

Long ago when Screech was added, it broke CC, Sheep and traps. The owl me was using was quickly released. If you think Screech is better than Howl, have you tried a wolf?

Screech was also a focus dump and my owl would quickly use up all her focus and lose aggro. Granted, have not had an owl with screech in a long time now, but in my opinion, screech wasn't as great as many people made it seem.

My owl also died a -lot- easier/quicker than my wolf. Even if it could have held aggro better, which it didn't, it simply couldn't take the hits. If me didn't hurry up, the owl would die.

OWL
HP: Medium (+0%)
Armor: Low (+0%)
DPS: High (+7%)

WOLF Family
HP: Medium (+0%)
Armor: Medium (+5%)
DPS: Medium (+0%)

EDIT: Like me stated above, Howl is a group buff for aggro terms. The wolf gets more aggro, with each person that Howl buffs -- whether they use the benefit or not, the wolf still builds aggro from it.

This is how Petopia lists screech:

Blasts a single enemy for damage and lowers the melee attack power of all enemies in melee range. Effect lasts 4 sec.
20 Focus; 5 yd range; Instant
Can be used by: Bats, Carrion Birds, Owls

When grouping with a friend and her bat I would sometimes bring a much lower level character in order to do hard quests. Her bat was a great pet for this purpose. When all the mobs would turn towards me seeing an easy kill, her bat would screech and all the mobs would ignore me and attack the bat. I’d think a pet with screech would make a great group pet if the screech skill was used with some caution. It would lower the attack power of all mobs in range, which would make the tank require less healing. And it should help pull agro off cloth wearers as well.

I’ve never used a flying pet as I usually find their flying in my face to be annoying. But I may try one again and see if it still bothers me.

As far as pulling healing aggro no

Screech causes initial aggro to non-focus mobs because it is just SOMETHING that hits them. The damage done is only to the focus farget, the mobs aground him are aggroed because they got debuffed, but it is minimal aggro, soon as you heal pet/tank those mobs (if only affected by screech) will turn instantly onto your healer/self. I initially thought it did damage to all, but found out otherwise, it only does the debuff, which is why it does not break nearby CC. Used to I guess, but it no longer does.

My Owl has Claw AND Screech, but I have GftT and I crit often enough he always has focus :P

I am using a serpent right now with my lv 43 hunter. I am loving it as a pet. Ranged attack as he moves in to fight, armor is above 50% dmg reduction, and has good attack power. I can go through a fight without pulling any threat off my pet, firing away from a distance. It helps fights go a lot faster.

GftT solves any aggro problems, and my bird never misses a growl either.
besides that, a bit in the fight i can start using multi shot without grabbing aggro from the adds.

and yes, i have tried a wolf. and it doesnt hold aggro nearly as well as a bird.
i still like it for the buff he gives, also because its nice to slap a little bit of extra threat on your tank in bossfights or hard pulls.

When did I say Screech was better than howl? Sorry if this comes across as rude but, if you read my post more carefully it just says that Screech is better for HOLDING AGGRO than FH.

I have a wolf and I love FH, but Screech generates more threat, not that it's better than FH.
