WTF is the deal with boars??? what is so good about them?? I'm a lvl 20 hunter, and have a lvl 18 boar, it sucks. I have trained it time and time again to give it better armor, stamina, etc, but it still sucks.... I think that pets such as wolves are better 'cause they're faster.
Okay, Mr. Beaver Person, time for some hunter school: wolves are not faster. All pets save King B have the SAME ATTACK SPEED. (/puts on Dora mask) Come on, say it! Say "SAME ATTACK SPEED!"
Wolves are medium across the board for dps, hp and ac. They get dash at lvl 32-ish. SO if you don't want a slow-butt pet til then, go pork! If you don't mind slowness, hey, go w/ whatever pet you like.
Wolves get furious howl, which is a perfectly fine talent. Pigs get more AC and more HP than wolves, and w/ charge they get to add ap to their first attack after charge (very similar to what howl does, save that howl goes to the hunter and party -- but for soloing and agro-holding purposes, they're similar).
Pigs have less base dps than wolves, but pigs can bite and gore! If you get talents to feed em enough focus, they don't lag that badly in the dps department.
If pigs suck for you, what in the hell are you doing wrong? Honestly, say why pigs suck. Give us the details. At level 20 or 21 the other day I easily, EASILY soloed Bellygrub in Lakeshire. My boar never once lost agro, and I only had to fire off pet-heal once (and even then, the pet might have lived had I not). Bellygrub is a mean-*** pig (semi-elite) - and - I had no talents on that character. So a pig 3 to 4 levels under Belly tanked him with flying colors WITHOUT even help from talents.
So again, I want some details on why boars suck. Where do they let you down?
