Laddy, this is a ... brace yourself ... JOKE!

The kind of noobs who come here asking "DOOD LIKE WHAT IS THE BEST PET?!?!?!" are LIGHT YEARS away from getting a warpstalker.

The Crusade is to answer them. If you want to have a serious pet discussion, it'd be nice if you'd give us reasons. This isn't a rah rah section for mutant alien pets.

It's a thread for dealing with a nuisance in a humorous way.

Laddy, you get four negative OINKS for your lack of sophistication. But you can make this up by telling noob posters to get a Boar, or by teaching us how to curse in Hungarian. I've always wanted to know how to do that! Good day.

So, don't tell me "l2play" when you are the one who badly needs to learn how to "get a clue!" Thanks!

Yeah... This thread is about as serious as my "BEST BUILD" post... It's here because we're sick of noobs asking the same questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It's a pain in the ***. If we tell them "BOAR!!!" every time instead of writing a 500 word post about different pets and their pros/cons (I've done it... I felt good... untill 3 new threads were posted about that subject the next day >.<) it'll just be much easier!

Just my 2c.

well I'm a level 62 tauren hunter atm, got a ravager... was thinking about getting a warpstalker, but I've noticed that my ravager isn't the best pet for tanking... great at damage, but not so much for defense... I was kinda mad lol, becuase I want a good pet that will be able to have a lot of health and handle mobs easily... so until you're level 70...
Get a boar! now go to Petopia!

OINK

I burst with pride to see the Crusade is healthy and being maintained by loyal defenders!!!

Twenty hearty OINKS to the faithful!

To newcomers to this thread, please do try, as is suggested by some above posters, to understand the "spirit" of this thread before launching into some spurious attack.

If you're a clueless, new-to-WoW hunter - and you're wondering what pet to get - you just simply can't go wrong with a boar! You can't go wrong with any other pet (except weak caster-stat ones (when you train them they have blue mana bars), and even then some of us mess around with them), either. But boars really are arguably the "best all-around pet," especially for lower level hunters. So we're not doing anything wrong here. We're actually helping people - and we are sending them to the fount of pet-wisdom (petopia, brashendeavors.net) - so this is indeed a noble effort!

I don't know...I think everyone should get a dragonhawk...just because running through EPL when you're level 10 is so much fun :P (The sad thing is I actually did this and I haven't had one person say anything about my dragonhawk...you'd think someone would say "Hey, that's really cool" or something, but no...though one person did ask me where I got it)

Boars are actually really good from what I've seen, though. I don't really like the look of them, but the all black ones are bearable, I guess, so I tamed one when I was level 24 (the boar was level 8) and despite the fact that I'm MM specced...the thing somehow managed to hold aggro...which kind of blows my mind.

This is funny, because some of you are really missing the point of the Crusade.

The Crusade is, again, is for level 10 and level 11 total noobs. This is probably their first character. Or if not, it might as well be. It's also for nuts-and-bolts players who don't need fancy dragonhawks (who have wimpy caster stats, btw, at low lvl!) or see-thru kitties or whatever.

See, what we were doing wrong is this, metaphorically: A 12 year old kid comes up and asks "what's the best mode of personal transportation??" And we'd argue over Ferarri vs Porsche vs Bentley vs Mercedes vs a fuel-saving hybrid car or a flying car or a helicopter or a jet --- but it's a 12 year old kid!!

The kid really needs advice on a bicycle which he can ride to school and tootle around the neighborhood for the next four years. And then, when's he's sixteen, he's going to need a used Civic or Saturn or whatever IF he can afford it, the gas and the insurance.

Now do you understand why we say to certain people "BOAR! Now go to Petopia!"

If you don't, um... heh. Yeah. Right. Smiley: dubious

So please, the Crusade is not for showing off our vast knowledge and dreams. Do I engage in wanting to show off, too? Off course! But the Crusade is not about that. It's about presenting an easy-to-grasp answer to people who really need an easy-to-grasp answer. And for many starting hunters, boar really is the answer. You can't go wrong w/ it. And if you hate it you can always change out! But mostly it's to preserve what little insanity we still have left.

Also, we're not saying to always say BOAR! Just know when to say BOAR! It's pretty obvious when.

I'll go along with that. In game, I always tell noobs (the "can u gief muny, wut si good pet?" variety) that any kind of whelp makes an excellent pet. I'm happy to point them to Redridge where "there are tons of black whelps dude. Easy to tame? Sure! Oh you may die a couple of times, but just keep at it!"

WTF is the deal with boars??? what is so good about them?? I'm a lvl 20 hunter, and have a lvl 18 boar, it sucks. I have trained it time and time again to give it better armor, stamina, etc, but it still sucks.... I think that pets such as wolves are better 'cause they're faster. The only benefit I see with having a boar would be the fact that its techniques, i.e. dash, etc., can be taught to better pets like wolves, bears, leopards, etc. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE BIG DEAL OVER BOARS IS THEN???

The problem with this crusade is it might come off as rude, especially when any question relating to pets is asked and the response is simply "A BOAR! Now go to Petopia." I mean, yes it answers "What is the best pet" but not some of the questions I've seen asked that have gotten this response. Now, if you come off as rude, you'll drive hunters away. If hunters are driven away, they will not get the advice of this community in other aspects, which means you will see them becoming/remaining hunters who:
-melee
-need on anything and everything
-load up on strength
-pull with whatever shot will do the absolute highest damage possible
-all the other things that cause people to have a bad stigma about hunters

In other words, if the crusade is used correctly, yes it will just mean there's a lot more boars in cities. If it's used how I see it used now, the stigma against hunters will stay or grow.

EDIT: Also, if you're going to send people to Petopia, understand that probably 97% of the noobs asking "OMG I WANT TO PWNSOR WHAT PET SHOULD I GET?" Will have never heard of Petopia, so you should provide a link, otherwise your advice is again mute.
