How can you not notice that? It's HUGE.

This is what my screen looks like:
Screenshot

That's without anything cut off, I've made the impact of firefox as small as possible and everything windows is hidden all the time, the black bar is a giant waste of screen real estate and it's really annoying me. This site wasn't exactly a paragon of design before but it's just getting worse and worse.

Also, the middle point of the M in ZAM sticks out underneath and that's really bugging me.

I look at the middle of my screen? You also have it more minimalist than I do, so would notice quicker.

I'm all for a control bar that scrolls with me, I'd love to be able to quickly swap forums without having to scroll up

I hate, hate HATE control bars that scroll with you if they're at all noticeable. If they're invisible or nigh invisible until you mouse over them or if they're small then it's fine but it's huge, clashes horribly with the skin and dominates the entire screen all for 2 sub menus.

That's on purpose I would assume. The point has always stuck down below the rest of the word, it's how the logo works...

Yes and that's fine but it also sticks out below the black bar.

Not really, it's also not enough to be clear and just enough to look like it was done on accident. It just looks really awkward.

Gotta admit, I'm not a fan of things that scroll down with me. I know it's all the rage these days, but really, the internet has been a part of my world for the majority of my life - I know how to navigate it without having a drop-down menu up my ***.

Also, it's too thick as is. I'm guessing the designer runs Internet Explorer (shudder), because it looks terrible on Chrome. Adds a good 50% of wasted space to the top of the window. It's thicker than the address field in Chrome.

90% of it is also simply not used at all which looks unfinished and if it is actually not finished then why on earth would they take it live?

I'm willing to applaud their ability to come up with a new design feature that manages to waste even more space, though. A good 40% of the screen space is currently being wasted on massive pillarboxing, because the site design is optimized for what appears to be a vertical tablet resolution.

Speaking of which, Samsung, Apple, and Microsoft websites don't have such headers. Why not? Because they **** up when you view the site on a tablet/phone. Try zooming in/out on a website with one of these headers. It's a mess.

Edit: I find myself getting carried away with the complaining. I don't actually mind the header that much. The only truly annoying quality is that the header catches my eye every time I scroll. The color and solidity is too noticeable. Might as well be bright orange - same effect.

Seriously, how hard is it to make it translucent and not awful.

Also, I do hope they'll finally bite the bullet and just start over from scratch, the site needs a redesign so very badly after having things stuck on with duct tape and staples for years.

duct tape and staples is how most web sites and the internet work

Fine on the back end but not at the front end where people can see the mess.

Alright, on the back end it's your problem and not mine so I don't care.

It was a pretty simply thingy. Just grabbing some data from a file, filtering it, and printing the output to another file. We already had been using the basic program for years and just had just been ploping the data into excel, viewing it there, and then editing the filters in the program itself. However people seemed to keep messing that up somehow, so we decided we'd like a gui. There wasn't any mystery about what needed to be done, or how we'd like it displayed or anything. Was just him playing a bit with Tkinter & matplotlib, he got it pretty well in the end.

Random fun gif: TGV max speed test.

Vitesse is french for speed and the number next to it is the speed in Km/H.
