Supermarkets charge an extraordinary amount of money for wrapping vegetables in too much plastic. And the vegetables I get at the turkish store are generally better in quality as well.
Plus there's weird and delicious things there!

Also, I'm currently wearing green shorts and a white beatles t-shirt... bye bye metal cred Smiley: lol

But the plastic also contains a little note that lets you know where the vegetable is from. If it isn't wrapped then you have no idea if it's from some sunny patch of heaven in Chile or a luminescent patch of radioactive death in Chernobyl.

Green peppers from any European supermarket I've bought them at were always bitter.

Green peppers from the Cash and Carry are actually sweet, and sweeter than the red ones you get at the supermarket.

That being said, just because something isn't wrapped in plastic doesn't mean the origin isn't known. I mean, we used to have a shop and labeled everything by origin; the same is true for a lot of market stands and the street stands in Southall have most things labeled, too.

The only store I know that actually puts the farm things came from on the packaging is Marks & Spencer's and that's just... really expensive.

No offense to the greengrocers out there, but my experience tells me that, at least over here, the origin of the products available in such shops is largely questionable. If a small greengrocer sells unwrapped bell peppers cheaper than the pre-wrapped ones in the supermarket then something's up.

And yes, I realize that the label on a pre-wrapped product can be just as fake as the one on an unwrapped product, but at least there's a minuscule chance that it's actually true on the label from some big shipping company. The greengrocer might not care about the legal repercussions of selling falsely labeled products, but the shipping company has to.

Also, all it takes to contract e. coli is for you to eat one bell pepper grown in someone's backyard and fertilized/watered with sewage. Apparently, human ***** is not meant to be ingested. Go figure.

I think it's funny that Maz trusts pre-packaged veg more, while I can't stand the stuff.

Maybe my mentality is because I grew up in a shop that had much higher quality foods, loose, and from much more reputable sources than any supermarket.

I realise not every shop is like that, and I know a few where I had pretty bad experiences. It's just... half the fruit and veg you get at the small stores you can't get at supermarkets at all.

I do buy my carrots & leek at supermarkets usually, because I can never remember when the market is open, but I don't think I've ever seen a real mango in a supermarket, for example.

Edit: Also, yeah, there's the plan to move to Pakistan. Lol FWP.

Eh, not always. Take some spicy Italian sausage and chop it up into some rice and it tastes damn good with just a little salt and pepper.

I had a mahi dish once that also came with some rice on the side that had some veggie in it but was otherwise unblemished (veggie may have been sauteed in something, but rice was straight) and it tasted @#%^ing awesome.

Actually, pilau doesn't really have much of a sauce. It's awesome. I eat it all the time.

Also finally got my Google+ account. Heh.

Tastes way vary. I hate rice without some kind of moisturizing additive. Same with potatoes and pasta.

I have it on good authority that the stuff Danish supermarkets sell as mangoes is usually the same crap you get in the rest of Europe. Different variety, doesn't taste as good, is usually grown on a different continent.

And harvested unripe like a lot of other fruit from the far corners of the world.

We've been to outer space, but we still can't get a mango from India to Europe before they rot unless harvested unripe and ripened on the way.

Uhhh, we generally have one type. And it looks like this.

Also, one of the nice things about NJ is that (even though the Northern part is gross and all factories), we do still have a crap ton of farmland. So there are farmer's markets spread throughout the state, where growers can bring some of their produce. They can often make more per item selling it for dirt cheap there than they do selling it to a large market. Plus, they don't always have buyers for their whole crop before harvest, so it's a great way to get rid of what's left.

Yeah, those are African mangoes, I think.

The Indian/Pakistani ones look really yellow on the outside and (at least by the time they get to Southall and such) kind of wrinkly.

I can't believe that staff got DE'd... that makes me sad. The spirit and haste one would be better for me, but the one that got DE'd is pretty sexy too. Although, I wouldn't get to roll on those yet if they dropped in my group anyways. I won the roll to get the first round of items for the legendary quest, so I don't get to roll on any weapons until all the other casters have theirs. =x I think that's fair though. It's just going to be a while before I get enough to get the first stage of the staff. I did the math last night, and at the rate my group is going (one new boss down each week), it'll be the end of August before I have all my embers. -.-

Not exactly DE'd, more likely banked. It's a BoE.
About the staff, I'm pretty much around the last one to be able to get it. I have 7 or 8 people ahead of me. So....yeah, probably never going to see it.
The other Moonkin in my raid will got his first stage yesterday, I think. He was 3 away or something like that.
