A four pack of, what I assume is beer (too lazy to google), 20 dollars? Whew.
I can get a 12-pack of beer that I like for 12 euros.

***** beer, real men drink whisky. There's a bottle of Aberlour with my name on it downstairs, but it's still a little too early to be drinking something that heavy going.

It was my birthday last week so I decided to try some different whiskey/bourbon/scotch. I settled on a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel, bottled on 11-15-2000, so almost a full 11 year old Kentucky bourbon.

It was gone in about 3 days. I'm so happy I've fully developed my pallet to handle whiskey on the rocks.

As for Beer drinking, now now. Everyone loves a good beer, especially men. My personal favorites are St. Rogue's Red and Rogue's Dead Guy Ale. I've also pulled my wife away from the American Light Beer and into the world of craft brewing. So far I've gotten her to enjoy Harp Lager, which is definitely a step forward from Mich Golden.

I had a 700ml bottle of Glenfiddich last week at some point, and I had the whole thing to myself, as Canadians don't seem to be able to drink Whisky (At least, the ones I know can't). I bought a smaller bottle of Aberlour, because I don't think my liver can handle that much in one go again.

I'd be drinking it right now, if I wasn't doing some common sense training tomorrow for work at 8am.

I just can't get into beer, it all tastes the same to me. There's some minor differences between the pishwater that I usually drink, and the stuff I've tried that Aeth recommended.

Also: Looking at that bottle of bourbon really annoys me. I hate it when Americans attach the Whisky/Whiskey name to
stuff that's actually bourbon.

Uhhh, what? All bourbon is whiskey. Just not the other way around.

Requirements for something to be bourbon:
-Distilled in the US
-Made from between 51% and 79% Indian Corn.
-Aged for at least two years and bottled at at least 160 proof.
-No additives (color, flavors, etc.)

These are agreed upon by international law. You can't call something bourbon otherwise. But that is just a small part of the whiskey world. But bourbons are still whiskeys.

Scottish terriers are definitely uber cute! So is Arex's kitten!

This is Miranda. She is deceptively cute. I say this because she is also evil. And she was supposed to be my cat, but decided she likes J better. She gets cranky whenever we have any female friends over. She mostly tolerates me, and will come to me for cuddles if daddy isn't home. Otherwise, she really doesn't like women. =x

So why not just call it Bourbon, instead of Bourbon Whiskey. After all, it is bourbon. It's probably just my brain being my brain, but I associate Whisky with Scotland, and Whiskey with Ireland(and possibly Wales, I'm not sure), and Bourbon with America.

But not all whiskey brewed in the US is bourbon, so you shouldn't automatically assume it's bourbon if brewed here.

Plus, it's still whiskey. It's just a specific type of whiskey.

And the technical name IS "Bourbon whiskey." People just call it bourbon as shorthand. Bourbon was actually named after the family, so it's realistically supposed to be more of an adjective than a noun.

Whisky (Scottish English) or whiskey (Hiberno-English) is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Different grains are used for different varieties, including barley, malted barley, rye, malted rye, wheat, and maize (corn). Wikipedia

Or if you prefer, you can read what I posted in this thread nearly 18 months ago :-

Quote:
Scotch Whisky, Irish Whiskey, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Jim Beam), Tennessey Whiskey (Jack Daniels) - All the same yet very different.

Whisky on Wikipedia

It is fantastic that the word whisky is derived from the Irish Gaelic "uisce beatha" and Scottish Gaelic "uisge beatha" which means literally "water of life". Makes a lot of sense to me :)

Oh and apparently it can be spelt Whisky or Whiskey. Wikipedia adds the e to Irish and American Whiskies which probably makes a bit of sense with the strong Irish Catholic roots in the USA. That and the fact that you Americans seem to like bastardising the spelling of proper English! Smiley: grin

We seem to be repeating ourselves - need more boobs!

Oh and I seem to have become a resto druid instead of Mookin now :( One of our regular healers, on learning that the officers were not going to let him change to Boomkin and get the legendary staff had a dummy spit and decided to take a break from raiding Smiley: rolleyes

With our current lack of healers that left me as the only other heals option. On a positive note, the loot gods have been very kind to me :) I got Obsidian Arborweave Legwraps from BH (first PvP boss loot for me ever!), Obsidian Arborweave Handwraps from Valor points, Chelley's Sterilized Scalpel from raid trash & Flickering Shoulderpads of the Undertow (Spirit/haste) from Shannox. Add that to the rep cloak and waist and I suddenly have a LOT of 378 items.

Gave the confidence to try healing some 5mans :) My first 2 ever 5mans healed on this toon were both successful ZA bear runs - one of which was a PuG! I get the feeling things can only go downhill from here.....

Bah! I was trying all sorts of stuff like [Wowitem=xxxxx] which I am sure used to work back when Allakhazam used to have its own database instead of using Wowheads.

I made a cat whisperer joke last month. It worked well, because it was about my friend Cat while we were having a conversation about cats and a friend who gets her really well.

You probably had to be there.
