GOG.com is having a sale. Currently they are giving away Mount & Blade (the original) and there is a banner part way down the page to collect "stamps". Which just means clicking the banner. Once you get seven stamps, you get a free copy of Witcher 2 and the movie The Gamers: Director's Cut.

Plus, you know, stuff on sale in case you wanted to actually spend money.

For nothing down you can lose track of your family, ruin your relationships with others, and still feel like you've only scratched the surface.

Why not?

Told a buddy of mine at work about Metro 2033 on Friday, and Witcher 2 today. He has a limited entertainment budget so he was stoked. Thanks thread!

A bunch of people had bought Assassin's Creed: Unity via Origin's India store and it turns out that the game is region locked. Even if activated via VPN, you have to log into Uplay via proxy to get it to show in your library. Fortunately, there was a couple day delay in the India launch date so I killed my pre-order based on the terrible initial reviews. Double-fortunately, I had a FC4 order with them as well that now I know to kill. Oh well, 50% off at launch would have been nice.

Dragon Age: Inquisition from the Mexico store I'm not worried about. For one thing, it'll likely be a "North America" region and, for another, since it's published by Electronic Arts (not Ubisoft) it has Origin's "Great Game Guarantee" so it can be returned within seven days of the game being installed/played.

Maybe video games are turning into Microsoft OS's, every other one is good.

DLH.net is giving away another free game. Make or log into your account with them and go to your profile to activate Commander: Conquest of the Americas Gold Ed. on Steam. I believe you can also activate any previous free titles you missed (Enclave, East India Company, Knightshift, Knights & Merchants HD and Pirates of the Black Cove)

Isn't it always the second sequel that's always the worst of a series of movies (exception: Wrath of Khan which is arguably the best ST movie).

Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Aliens, Terminator 2. Your logic is flawed.

Gearbox says it's a "Pre-Sequel".

Stardock is having a sale. 50% off all games and software if you use the coupon code "Stardock50". Sale good through 11/25. On a related note, their store page is incredibly minimalist.

Game it forward: Steam keys free to a good home. Requires Twitter and someone else's support to get the keys. Read below.

Quote:
Steam Keys: Free to Any Home
November 20, 2014

Author’s note: I was nominated and collected a steam key from this scheme. I have also nominated another for a free key.

With December fast approaching, it is the season of giving, and some gamers have a lot to give. A few guys idea to share their extra steam keys with others over twitter, has spiraled out of control, and the list of donated keys runs to almost one thousand.

However, after huge waves of donations from those wishing to help others, including over one hundred keys donated by Postal developers Running With Scissors, the scheme is now receiving 3-4 new keys for every game they give out, and are looking to register as a not-for-profit.

They are desperate for Twitter users to nominate their friends and make others aware of the scheme, which hopes to make gaming more accessible. It is extremely simple to nominate others and to pick up your free steam keys. The venture which runs under the hashtag #GameItForward, simply requires you to make a tweet such as: “@ShrekBane I nominate @(handle) for a free game.”

Once nominated, users will be followed by @ShrekBane and can choose from this self-updating list of available games. Then all they have to do is direct message @ShrekBane their choice, and they will receive their key. It’s really that simple. Due to the huge number of games available, the group are now working on setting up an automated bot for this service.

You can also donate keys to the cause using the form at the bottom of this page. The document also describes the motivations behind the scheme which hopes to help those who are not in the current financial situation to buy new games, and to make gaming a more inclusive environment for all. The idea has been a huge success so far, with hundreds of people receiving their free games.

The venture which is now in its sixth day, allows you to nominate others for free keys as many times as you like, meaning that this really is the gift that you can keep on giving. Why not gift a free steam key today?
I'd be willing to toss a few nominations if anyone wants one.
