I've been playing Shadow of Mordor on PC.
I did not love it at first. But it has these moments of brilliance. That brilliance is the Nemesis system of course. I'll always remember my first: Zathra the Slaughter. When I was still getting the hang of the system I did a bow challenge before I knew what I was doing and got smoked. It promoted Zathra to captain. Well then he starts hunting me. Showing up at random times 2-3 shotting me with a poison crossbow.
He got all of these crazy boosts and before you know it he is a warchief gaurd elite captain and just about the most dangerous guy for me to run into with no fears and only 2 vulnerabilities. First time I finally smoked him I was so damn happy. I did not get his head though, so he comes back as Zathra the Scarred. I kind of look forward to seeing him now. We are like old enemies that that respect each other now.
He is a survivor though. He is still on the first map and I let him live after I went to the second map. I may go dominate him now that I have that power and make him my ****** officially before I finish the last story missions.
Good:
Nemesis System
Great Graphics
Smooth Combat
Lots of neat powers
Bad:
FoV is too tight. Can't be adjusted...
Combat gets crazy spammy sometimes. Going to finally break my gamepad it feels like.
Power balancing: You start out too weak and get worked over, to the point of frustration at times.
But if you do the collecting and side missions on the first map by the time you leave it you are THE DEATH GOD.
I've been nigh invincible the entire time on the second map which is like 50% of the game. There is still some challenge and killing with a variety of ways
is fun but yeah if you go on a completionist streak on the first map you will unlock all the skills. You don't have to choose, you get everything or
dang near it halfway through the game.
