I think this was a green light vote whoring giveaway game. I already got it and the cards. Hopefully my cards sell before the price plummets. I think they were worth more than average.

Edit:
They did not. My .15-.20 listings are now buried under 2 dozen listings for .08

Almost 2 pages of it this morning...

I am down to about 65 games with cards to farm. And have nearly 16 dollars of cards on the market. Sales have slowed, but prices are relatively stable. I put them on the higher end of the sell range so they usually take 2-3 days before they sell, but I'll end up with an extra dollar in the end of it all.

Couple of other forums like the DAOC General was completely filled as well. Currently there are only 4 posts in my Live View: you, me, Aethien's post in the Babies in Cars thread, and yet another spam post. Smiley: disappointed

Probably more than most of you want to go through but I've found some good deals lately on Dispenser.tf. It automates trades and most people use it to trade TF2 keys for games. Of course, this requires getting TF2 keys which you can either do via the Steam Market (and pay more or else wait forever for a good price) or off-site where you pay less but then have to go through buying keys via Paypal from some random guy.

Anyway, I bought some keys at the end of the Summer Sale when they were cheaper but also bought a couple for $2.30ish last night. I used the Steam Market because I have a bunch of GabeN Funbux and I'd rather take a hit using those than use real money just to save a few nickles.

I recently got Witcher 3 Pre-Order (MSRP $60 - paid $26 though I overpaid on that and saw better deals for ~$8 less... boo.), Fall of Cybertron (MSRP $60, paid $8.50) and Killing Floor Complete (MSRP $50, on sale for $12.75, paid $4.80). You do have to check for RU/CIS region locked versions and it's more hassle but after a terrible Summer Sale, I at least got some decent prices on stuff. There's also the remote chance of the seller doing a charge-back or something but the system uses Steam Rep to screen sellers. And you could possibly find better deals trading directly with people but I like the bot interface and not having to PM people, Steam chat, blah blah. Nice deal for the antisocial.

Edit: Also worth mentioning that while there's some good deals, most stuff is NOT a great deal unless you just have a surplus of cheap keys from somewhere. Best to just use the search function for games you're interested in and run the mental math (I just figure $2.40/key via market) to see if it's a deal. You can waste forever pawing through random sellers hoping to see something great just by chance.

I'm always leery of trading things of real value for game copies on Steam, mostly because of the threat of a chargeback and then having to deal with support to get the trade reversed. Or people trying to flip RU/CIS versions for profit.

Edit:
That and I try to stay away from trading sites so I don't get constant phishing spam invites.

Sure, trading is always caveat emptor. RU/CIS versions mainly just require you to be observant. I check Steamdb first to see if the game has a RU/CIS version. If it does, you know to be extra careful in double checking. Nothing I've bought has a RU/CIS version though.

I haven't seen any spam invites but I don't think the transactions through Dispenser.tf are public anyway. The idea is that the seller has a "store" and trades his stuff to Dispenser. Then you trade your keys to Dispenser for the game. Then the seller gets your keys from Dispenser. Provided you don't join the Dispenser Steam Group or anything, you're fairly anonymous.

All that said, I'd never guarantee anything. It's been trouble free for me but it's still a personal risk assessment.

I went down my wishlist and didn't find anything that I would consider to be a great deal. Most prices seem to reflect previous low deals. Maybe I'm doing it wrong (also their search engine sucks )

Nah, it's very list dependent. You typically find the best pricing when there's regional price differences to exploit. For example, Witcher 3 is 699 rubles or $18 and change (cheaper if they already own the first two and get the loyalty discount). So you'll find people selling it for $20-$30 worth of keys. But stuff that has no regional pricing to exploit tends to be around list. The only way you get a deal then is to get the keys themselves for cheap -- if you're getting keys for $1.85 off site or something then you're obviously saving more than buying them for $2.45 each.

Yeah the prices weren't bad per se, just not that great at least what I could find. Do you have a link to the bot you found Witcher 3 on for cheap?

I just realized I bought the Blackwell Bundle for 1.99 back during the summer sale, just a little point and click adventure bundle. And it's got 4 games all with card drops, roughly 40 cents per game. It almost pays for itself.

Seems that it was a 90% off deal, but not a daily/flash/community deal, so the community must not have bought it much as a whole and flooded the card market for it yet.

Edit:
Oh, and if you happen to farm bing searches for gift cards... don't try to use bookmarks to make it faster. That *might* flag you as a bot and get you suspended. I couldn't redeem my points for gift cards until I contacted their Support team and had them "investigate" the issue. About a week later they said the issue was resolved, and now I can redeem them again.

Not 100% sure it was because I was loading bookmarks, but it might be.

Either way, it's fixed now, and "free" 5 dollar gift cards to Amazon are nice. I think I'm up to 30 dollars so far.

Here you are
Some people sell for 13 keys but you can find people selling it for 9 keys. At the time of me posting this, two people have it for 9 keys. Even at $2.50 a key, that's $22.50 for it versus the $60 MSRP. Of course, you can shave some of that off stalking the market for cheaper keys.

You probably know but never buy a key off the market for more than $2.49 since they're sold from the Mann Store in TF2 for $2.50 each. You'll still see spikes of people selling them for $2.55 or $2.60 sometimes on the market -- no idea who's buying them for that price. Also, Witcher 3 doesn't actually release for another eight months or so, so no reason to overpay on keys in the next 20 minutes Smiley: laugh

So, my brother refers to my Steam account as "Cheating the system". I was explaining to him my card selling, Bing rewards, greenmangaming credit, and the various bundles out there. Really I was telling him that he should get all the card drops for the duplicate bundle games I gave him and sell them so he can buy games. But he's still not convinced it's worth it, even though I showed him my 130 dollar market history.

Another deal on Dispenser.tf is Divinity: Original Sin selling for nine keys. That's $22.50 (assuming $2.50/key) or about 45% off MSRP. Once again, regional pricing. Sells for $17.40 in Russia but there's only one worldwide version in Steamdb.

I grabbed it on the off chance I'll ever get a 3D printer. Combined with RaySupreme it seems like a good combo.

Found my first 3D printer.

This. I could see me making all sorts of stupid stuff with it at first, but after the novelty wore off, it would probably end up gathering dust.

Gamers Gate game me a personalized 20% off coupon (it had my user name in the coupon). Decided to buy Demonicon for $6.40, just because...

Not sure if it will be worth it, but it stood out.
