i might have a problem. i jumped on the gog.com d&d deal... 9 games for $34.31

http://www.gog.com/en/page/dnd_promo

roughly 750 hours of gameplay or so, lol. i have no freaking idea where to even begin. i've heard so much about planescape and baldur's gate, but then that dragon shard was written by ra salvatore.

also came across some mods for screen res, etc.

Planescape:Torment is one of my favorite RPGs. Sadly, my current PC WILL NOT play it. One of these days I was going to grab the GoG version and hope for the best.

Try running it as an admin, that fixed my copy of Torment.

Baldur's Gate 2 was one of my favorite Rpgs, and it has a lot of flexibility in character and party comp.

Planescape: Torment is flat out awesome, in terms of plot and dialogue. So either play it first or play it last.

Never, EVER ditch Morte.

Didn't Planescape set the record for number of lines of dialog in a game?

It will play, it is however extremely choppy and unplayable.

cool. after i started downloading planescape i started reading around stuff like "talk to everyone," "800,000 lines of text," "like reading the first 6 harry potter books," and i groaned. but! at least the first hour's worth i found to be quite snappy and entertaining, even the 4th and 5th times i started a new dude.

loaded up all those mods and it looks pretty good at 1280x800 on both my laptop and my 27" at home. i'm not having any problems with the gog.com version.

edit - the very next time i started it i was having major lag issues every time i opened up unexplored areas. i think this game is very sensitive to background programs accessing the hard drive.

You won't realize how much you've actually read while playing the game if you've found the first hour entertaining.
