Anyone plan on picking this up?

I am basically letting the people who have a PS3, XBox 360, and PC/Mac know some things.

I would normally buy the 360 version just because I enjoy hearing the achievement sound more on the 360 than the trophy sound on the PS3, but considering what I have been reading about Portal 2 I am going to be picking it up for the PS3.

Why?

Well... the PS3 will have Steam surpport and get all of the patches and DLC available for the game, while the 360 version will not have Steam support and will reportedly not get the patches and DLC.

The PS3 and PC version owners will be able to play with each other.

And here is the big kicker... The PS3 version will come with a FREE code to download the PC/Mac version from Steam.

I'm probably going to wait until it goes on sale.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Portal. I just have a lot of other things on the go and can't justify paying full price for something that'll collect dust.

I preordered 2 copies (1 for me and 1 for the gf) when it was on sale last month. I loved the hell out of the first game and this one promises to be just as good, if not better.

I'll wait until Christmas and buy it off of Steam for ten bucks. The first game was fun as hell, but also very short. I don't expect the sequel to be any different. If I'm going to drop 50-60 dollars on a game, I want at least 40 hours of gameplay out it, something I just don't see happening with Portal 2.

The first Portal was basically a minigame added to the Orange Box to justify the price, they never expected it to be so popular. Portal 2 is supposed to be a full game, maybe 3/4's the length of HL2.

I thought portal was alright but I liked Half-life 2 and the episodes alot better. I would have rather seen episode 3 personally.

Im not a big puzzle game player though.

The puzzle was just a roadblock to getting to hear GLADOS say more ridiculous things Smiley: grin

Yep Yahtzee pretty much summed up my feelings on Portal rather well. Skip to 3:30 for the Portal portion of the review. Oh and NSFW and all that.

I got on the Portal bandwagon late, but the version I downloaded for XBOX360 came with a bunch of extra "challenge" levels.

I completed about half of them before getting too frustrated. They're hard.

If I were going to buy it, I'd buy the PS3 version from Amazon. The PS3 version comes with codes for PC and Mac versions of the game through Steam, and if you preorder it from Amazon, you get a twenty dollar credit towards your next game purchase. That's not a bad deal.
