Ghosts vs EdgeFollow

#1 Jan 08 2011 at 3:53 PM Rating: Decent
I wrote a somewhat negative review of Edge of Destiny. I see many problems with it. A long sequence of fights, little character development, a wit that does not equal Ghosts quality, somewhat bizarre behaviour, or at least, beahviour not fully explained or fleshed out by the book. I suppose I could go on but my review is here.

I thought I would generally strike upon the popular opinion of people who've read the book, but as more and more people read it and talked about it on twitter, forums, blogs, whatever, I found that I was in the minority.

Is it just that Edge of Destiny is more recent and therefore riding it's current hype? Or am I wrong and Edge Of Destiny has elements that Ghosts of Ascalon does not?

edit: forgot to mention my review is spoiler filled. sorry

I read your review, I'm not familiar with the plot or with the first book, although I bought the first book as a christmas present and expect to borrow it soon :)

By the look of the review it is much of what I expected the book to be about, fighting and short detailed relations. Being a fan of a series, it is easy to see the book with rose tinted lenses and to use your imagination a lot more vividly plugging up loose ends and filling up missing information. But I still might try read the book as you said there are still enjoyable places in the book, depends if I like ghosts.

Nice work.
