I'm not sure what you mean by that? You are certainly free to distribute them to allah users, but you aren't obliged to. But I wouldn't advise posting them--I would send them to people you thought were really interested (if you do decide to give them out here).

Count me out though. I'm not really interested in the game at all. I would have tried it if it was in open beta, but that's about it.

I've watched a friend play the beta and was super sad that it wasn't open and he didn't have any keys to share.

If you are looking for people to distribute keys to I can always take one off yer hands...

i was able to snag one...but i was pissed at all the stuff I had to sign up for (the site, then confirm via email..never got the email..had to resend activation email..). Each time I refreshed the site I watched 10-20 "codes" go away XD
Now to download the game sometime here..Firefox doesn't like the SoE site (or maybe it was just to much traffic at the site the other day).

Anyone playing?
I finally DLed it and had fun with the character creation, and then did the "into" on one.

My thoughts of the 40min I played:
-As of right now, there needs to be more options for character customization :o Unless i didn't see it, you can not change the color of your outfit. Everything was Blue >.>

-The HUD fighting is different. But having to keep clicking the mouse to attack....that will get old pretty fast. And I don't want to wear out mouses on a game -.-

You can change your costume color when you're making your character. The creator isn't very intuitive though and it's easy to skip parts and get hit with a "So you're done now, right?" prompt. That said, the creator is extremely limited compared to the other two super hero genre MMORPGs.

Original Scarlet Finch from City of Heroes
Closest I could get in DCUO
This horrific monstrosity is from Champions Online

So you can change your colors in DCUO but the customization is still pretty limited (you can only have three colors in your entire costume palette from what I could tell). The models look good (unlike in CO), you just have less ways of dressing them up.

I played through the intro and thought it was pretty good for an action-styled online game but didn't grab me as an MMORPG. I think it'll do well with the console crowd though or computer gamers who are more used to/into that sort of game play. I'll readily admit that its gameplay "flaws" are basically me not being into that sort of gameplay. I might fire it up again though and give it another go-round.

I'm holding out for them!

I originally had a character with that costume named Tally-Ho but when I switched servers, I couldn't get the name so went with Scarlet Finch.

And here is the idea for your next incarnation of Tally-Ho. She can be a super-villain with a hooker theme that carries a tally sheet for each crime she commits. She can only be defeated by destroying her current sheet, and replacing it with one labeled "Number of days spent in prison this time".

For those of you who are interested and just want to see the game in action before it releases in the near future, the Cynical Brit is doing a walkthrough of his impressions as he plays the game, complete with hd vids, including character creation, the tutorial mission, and him running around the city for a little while.

http://www.cynicalbrit.com/category/dc-universe/

I have to say, I wasn't that excited before I watched the vids. Now, though...well, really debating if I'm going to pick it up, cause I really want to but money is a bit tight.

If you want to play a Super Hero game, the one owned by Cryptic Studios (Champions?) is going "f2p". This new trend seems to be working for Cryptic and their games.

DCU is ok, I've done a few quests so far. But i keep deleting and remaking toons as the creation is fun.
The only gripe I have is that you spend time customizing your hero, and when you get Gear upgrades they use a different skin.
IE: What you create at the start is only to look at for the Tutorial. Even while in the tutorial you will get gear upgrades that will change the way you look. IMO, "gear" should just be Stat upgrades rather then a new look (or maybe you can change it later to look different).

Oh and Fire is OP. 120+ Crits on mobs your lvl = instant death :D

If you go into costume options, you can lock pieces so changing gear doesn't affect them. Would be nice if they mentioned that explicitly somewhere, though.

Also, I think champions Online is not a straight comparison for this game. True, if all you want is to run around in spandex with super powers, than sure. But I wouldn't really call is an action based MMO. There are 2 things this game offers that almost no one else does, and I thing Cynical Brit's commentary covers those points nicely - a truly action oriented experience and being built on the entire lore of the dc universe. The first, there are other games out there, though not many. But the second is unique in that it isn't just the lore exists, but it is everywhere and a vital element of the game. I played CO when it came out, and I have to say, as someone who mainly likes exploration and action, CO was a complete failure, feeling just like City of Heroes 2.0, and not in a good way.

When I played the intro, there was a pop-up once you got some gear asking if you wanted it to change your appearance or not.

From my admittedly brief experience, DCUO felt more like an action-based MMOG than a MMORPG. I'd be more worried if I was Cryptic than Paragon because CO was previously the more action-based superhero MMO with its powering up attacks and all that jazz. I get the impression that with DCUO taking the action theme and CoH taking the RPG theme, there won't be much air left in the room for Champions Online. I can't help but suspect that this played heavily into CO's F2P decisions although they'd never admit it.
