So the time has come for us to announce the winners of our epic 'Design a Skill' contest! Five lucky people will be receiving Guild Wars 2 wall graphics from LTLPrints, as modeled above by the legendary artist himself: Kekai Kotaki.

First of all, we'd like to thank ArenaNet for the participation in the contest. Particularly Game Desginers Isaiah Cartwright, Jon Peters, and the rest of the combat design team for screening all of the entries, and taking on the incredibly difficult task of picking out a handful of winners. Secondly, thanks to everyone who entered! We were blown away by the amount of creativity in the entries.

Here's a brief quote from Jon Peters on the selection process:

Quote:
We each read every entry and instinctually tried to pick out our favorites. We each probably had around 20 at that point. Ones that overlapped went through to the final pile and then we made cases for the non-overlapping ones that we liked the most. This narrowed the list down to 8, at which point we rated then until we had our top five.

You can read more of that, plus an individual analysis of the winners from Jon and Izzy, in the news post over here.

Without further ado, the winners!

Grand Prize Winner:

* N3verendr - 'Stonewark'

The four runners up, in no particular order:

* CrazyExcel - 'Plasma Shackles'
* grabus - 'Soar'
* nurt - 'Wrought Iron Bear Trap'
* Vulturion - 'Infernal Damnation'

Congratulations to you five! We'll be in touch shortly.

Congrats to all the winners! And that is awesome that Izzy and Jon took time out to even give explanations for their picks, loved seeing that. A very welcome and unexpected surprise.

I think this contest was a roaring success. It was judged by Anet, had an epic prize, and was accessible to a large amount of people (which is probably why it got as many entries as it did).

Grats to the winners!

Yay; a runner up plus I got some Izzy & Jon feedback! ^_^
Thanks, VIPs - and GuildFans for running the contest.

Very impressed that the lovely Stonewark "is really in line with the way GW2 skills are done" - I thought it might be too crazy-cool to be possible so, if skills like that are in-game, color me happy. ^_^

I would just like to once again publicly thank Izzy and Jon as well as everyone that submitted giving me a load of interesting skill concepts to read about. This whole process has been a simple wait-and-see scenario and a hellaciously fun way to kill some time.

Thanks again for hosting it, see the rest of you guys around the block somewhere hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks Guildfans, and thanks Arenanet.

Wow, really wasn't expecting to be runner up! There were a lot of good skill ideas, everyone was very creative. I love that Jon and Izzy actually took the time to write an analysis of their choices, it gives a bit of insight into the design process.

Congrats to N3verendr for winning, and thank you Arenanet and GuildFans for organizing this contest!

Congratulations to the winners. Some very good skill designs and I had fun working on my own skill.

Great contest as well. I always see things like art contests that I have no hope of contributing to, but this one was easily accessible even for a stick man guy like myself. I think the feedback on the skill is worth almost as much as the prize.

If anyone has any feedback on my entry I'd be happy to hear it.

Quicksand Pit on page 1.

Congratulations guys. :D
Those are some cool skill ideas. I really like how Izzy and Jon took the time to talk about them and critique them like that. It was very enlightening to see what they both look for in skill ideas.
