Features You Want to SeeFollow

The title of this thread says it all. What features would you like to see in GW2? Try and be creative yet realistic, don't just say you want to see "Fishing" because we already know there will be crafting and such! And don't say something like "a President Obama character," or something outrageous like that. lol.

Features I want to see are

1. In game housing area like an Animal Crossing type of system
2. (I know this one is probably never going to be implemented but) The ability to own our own ship and small boats and use them! Kind of like riding that little boat in Zelda: Wind Waker.
3. Big dynamic events occurring in capital cities like a Siege on Divinity's Reach and players have to defend it. Or something along those lines.

That's all I can really think of so what are your ideas?
:)

Features I'd like to see

1. Templated UI and keyboard shortcuts, so they can be saved and loaded for different purposes at will.
2. Gifting options for in game items and account purchases
3. Tamagotchi style minipet raising game.

The features I would really like to see are:

  • An addon interface so users can create custom interface addons
  • A (readonly) view of your character(s) via the web -- I would love to see the character, armor all the stats etc
  • Make the game available on the Mac platform

Don't get me wrong I will play GW2 for a large portion of my waking hours regardless if these features get implemented or not. :)

However I believe they could and here is why.

Since they are reimplementing the entire thing, as I understand it, then the addon interface, albeit not necessary, could be taken into consideration.
The character view via the web seems doable since they are already getting info out of GW for the Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator.
Lastly, bringing the game to the Mac. I know a lot of people may not care, but it seems like it should "easy" since they are doing a total overhaul of the system.
Guild Wars (classic) is available via Steam, put out by Valve, which has brought a number of games (and Steam) to the Mac.
Additionally that would make GW2 a bigger draw for the mountain of people playing WoW.

Looking forward to GW2!

Things I'd like to see...
  • Dungeon Puzzles ala the Legend of Zelda series. Think more along the line of the Four Swords game, since that one involved multiple players doing the same puzzle at the same time. :)
  • A fusion of Polymock and Mini Pets, since I fell in love with that idea the second I heard it!! <3
  • In-Game Voice Chat!!! If they're going to take from FPS's, then let this be something they take as well!

  • That's it... For now! ;)

Features I would like to see.

    1. Fly (I know that ncsoft said they wont add the ability to fly, but it would be awesome if they did.)

    2. Wings (Even though they wont allow flying, it would still be cool to get wings that can give different stats and abilities or just look awesome.)

    3. Talking to npc (In GW talking to npc was through the boxes when given quest or cutscenes) So it would be cool to walk up to an npc and get the box of different things to saw and your character actually says it. Like a little cutscene of them talking.

Remember the creed: Nothing is true and everything is permitted.

I agree with pretty much all of the above, but I'd also very much like to see a first-name-last-name system. For example, if my character Arkast Stormtamer is a Sunspear Castellan, he will be addressed by Sunspears as Castellan Stormtamer, and so on. Off the top of my head I see two problems with this, though.

    1) Not all races may have the custom of using two names. I don't see a need for sylvari to have a family name, for instance, given that they all share the same genetic memory.

    2) This is not LotRO, and far from everyone is a role player, and will thus not choose names that fit in this system.

    Still, a man can dream.

    1. In game mail.
    2. More guild content e.g. content that needs organisation, levelling ect.
    3. Monthly events or common events, like: oh no a big dragon is attacking the city or a unique quest hub/dungeon/boss.
    4. As its a free roam game, I want an abundance of cool mounts some hard to get that look even cooler.
    5. Additional content (even if it costs and is worth it) so the game constantly has fresh content.

Mostly my requests are for PvP:

I'd like ANet to run a pay-to-enter league, with the money covering actual prizes and administration. There could also be a free entry league, of course, that would have smaller prizes like art prints, mouse pads, keyboards, mice, or small gift cards.

Provided PvP matches go a bit quicker in GW2, I'd also like the structure of a "match" to change - I'd like there to be options for best of 3 or 5 maps to determine a winner, for example. To be more specific, say you're laddering - rather than playing one 30 minute game against your opponent, you'd play 3 different 10-minute maps against the same team, with first team to 2 wins taking the victory. If it ends 2-1, you could even give some rank points to the team that "lost". Also of course if one team felt completely overwhelmed after the first round, they could resign and concede the entire match. I think this would help avoid some of the gimmick builds that work through surprise rather than by being solid builds. Perhaps allow 30-60 seconds between maps to adjust utility and elite skills, something like the sideboard in magic?

Lastly, I want to see a lot of features that make getting into PvP attractive and inviting for new players, or traditionally PvE players. For example unique, cool rewards that are easy to get after relatively few pick-up PvP matches - don't hide them in the competitive PvP format! - give people a reason to try out PvP, but make it fun, not a huge grind that just frustrates people and turns them off like PvP titles in GW1.

Another option would be to have a "training", "fun", or "casual" mode on some of the PvP "servers" in the "PvP browser list". Something akin to big game hunters from starcraft, or the 32 player FPS servers with funny rules like "snipers only" or "pistols only" - where the focus would be on goofing around with no pressure rather than winning. Maybe make it so elites have 1/2 length recharge, or you respawn instantly, that sort of thing. Though now that I think about it, a lot of the city activities can fill this role - for example bar brawl, where you're doing PvP but in a low-pressure environment.

Absolute huge features I want would be put in:

    1) Racial/Class Implements (Asuran Golem Crafting, Norn Hunting Challenges, Charr War Games, Rangers raising certain pets from birth, Warrior Weapon customizing [Engraving, Hilt Style, If Mesmer was in the game - Customizing their Masks etc])

    2) Costume Hunting (a la Red Dead Redemption)

    3) New PvP Game Play types added gradually (a DOTA like mode, or a Counterstrike like mode, etc etc)

    4) Music as a Trainable Skill, Play tunes like on LotRO for example with instruments... and rare instruments could be found or crafted through hard tasks.

    5) Backwards Skill Fusion - You know how if an arrow flies through fire it gets set on fire? I'd like to be able to raise a wall of water and have the fire be put out before it reaches my side of the battlefield =p
