So let's start taking bets/guesses on when the official launch of Guild Wars 2 will be.

Me? I'm guessing Fall 2011.

Were it not for Eric Flannum's recent blog post I'd probably have gone with you on that Micajah.

Instead, I think I'm going to go with Spring 2012. Just to be different.

I've been saying early summer 2011, and I'm scared to change that. I might be tending towards fall 2011 now, though.

^this^

Though as much as I would have loved it to have been released on Guild Wars anniversary (which is a few days after my birthday), I'm going to have to say Fall or maybe even Winter 2011... :(

I can't imagine the game coming out anytime after next August. Surely they won't show up to the big conventions with another demo.....or will they?

I was hoping for sometime next year myself, but realistically it's going to be sometime in 2012.

I agree with the OP fall of 2011, if not earlier...i highly doubt any later...since it would be a bad move business wise and financially wise for Anet to release it any later

I really don't know when it'll be out, although footage to date looks pretty far along so I would be surprised if it is too far off, sometime in mid/late 2011 most likely.

At the end of the day though I can wait as long as needed. I want them to release it when it's ready.

FFXIV is direct proof of what happens when you rush a release. Far from help their bottom line, SE have generated a raft of bad press, turned people away before the game has even taken off (no doubt permanently in many cases), wracked up review scores that will put people off of trying the game even if they fix all of their core issues, and ended up having to extend the free trial period anyway. They wanted to be a real challenge to WoW, but I just don't see it ever happening now.

The quality of an MMOs release is so important these days. Get it right, and you're onto a winner. Get it wrong, and your can't rely on your reputation to save you.

I really think ArenaNet have the ability to get it right. So, as much as I want to start playing right now, I'll wait as long as it takes :)

Gii's post makes a good point, which is why I'm not letting the idea of not having the game for another year get to me. ArenaNet has set out to make the best game possible, and not even challenge WoW for top MMO. This is actually smart if you think about it. Guild Wars has always been the type of game you can buy, play for a month or two, stop playing to play something else (like WoW), and then pick up again when you get bored of playing (or can’t pay the subscription). ArenaNet learned this about its player base, and its smart that they’re going to try and appeal to that. Though I digress, all in all, we know that ArenaNet is trying their best to satisfy all of their fans, and isn’t that all that matter? It does to me, it does to me. :)

I'm guessing it'll not release on each day of the next 2 years, meaning out of 730 days, I'll only be wrong on one of them.

I'd like to guess something specific, but since that last blog, I've started to question my previous thought that it'll be spring of next year.

I'm guessing sometime between May-August of 2011. I can't realistically see it coming sooner with what we've heard from Anet, but I really wouldn't want to see it come later. They have brought up the hype super early if they aren't even going to release until 2012.

I'll just sit back and enjoy my Guild Wars: Beyond content for now >:)

I had been thinking Q2 2011, but after the recent blogs and the slowdown in information, and given the recent comment by the EA suit that SWTOR wouldn't be out before Q2 2011, I've moved my guess back to Q3-Q4 2011.

I'm thinking maybe sometime in September-November. Much will probably depend on whether Diablo 3 is going to release in that window, as well, and how the holidays look for other big MMOs.
