I know it's early, but I wonder when we are going to be able to buy some Guild Wars 2 merchandise. We've seen pictures of Anet staff in polos, t-shirts and baseball caps with the GW2 logo, and I'd love to be able to buy one.

I think they talked a while ago about opening a store, and even did a survey about what to sell. T-shirts are always popular, and there's a lot of rabid fans who would probably order on day one. It might be a good way to advertise the game and bring in some more money.

I have to admit, as awesome as the t-shirts at this year PAX were, they didn't have quite the same design finesse as the GW1 shirts. That's probably due to difficulties that come with producing t-shirts just for a single convention (GamesCon had different ones still), as opposed to designing shirts for mass production and sale. Still, it would be awesome to see some high quality official merchandise show up soon.

Tokoro, I think they definitely have bigger plans to up the amount of merchandise they'll do for Guild Wars 2. With Guild Wars it was a very common complaint that they really didn't have 'any' merchandise. You could find the odd t-shirt here and there, they released some cool figurines over in Europe, but there was never any emphasis or marketing put into it.

Having said that, I can't see a big push for merchandise until the game opens. They'll probably have something up their sleeve though to make me eat my words. :)

Somewhat on topic. Do you guys expect the Art of Guild Wars 2 book to be available in the Guild wars 2 Collecter's Edition? I was thinking on buying both, but would rather not buy the art book and then find out that it was in the Collecter's edition anyway.

It was confirmed that the current art book will not be in the CE, So it's an exclusive. They just restocked so gogogo get the exclusive. In a few years it's going to be like having the Prophecies art book today :)

They do have some stuff for sale don't they? Art book, calendar, big wall prints.

Although some slick t-shirts would definitely be quite awesome to have ;)

I imagine there will be more available once all of the professions are revealed.

Well, ArenaNet released a survey a while ago asking about certain types of merchandise people would like to see. Seeing as they’ve started selling different types of merchandise, I guess they’re just using, and possibly broadening, that data.
I’m still waiting for a charr plushie though… I wants me some charr cuddles… :(

A stuffed charr would be in my shopping cart faster than you can say microtransactions.

Seriously, Anet has the power to make so much money with this stuff. They'd be crazy not to take advantage of it.
