The remaining 4, hopefully in order xD

1. Assassin: Knowledge of the stealth mechanic and fits the "balanced look" theory on the webpage.
2. Knight/Templar: More commonly known as the "Blue Mace Lady/Lord." A holy guardian in heavy armor who maybe will smite his/her enemies with spiritual weapons. I like to call it a combination of the Paragon+Dervish+Monk (with maybe some Ritualist if the spiritual weaponry holds true).
3. Mesmer: You can not kill the Guild Wars Mesmer :D This will be a welcome return by many fans.
4. Engineer: Someone else has to be able to use a Rifle, and more so have it as their primary weapon. Concept art of turrets combined with the Rifle makes this one a possibility.

i agree with this...however like they did with the mesmer in GW1...i hope the 4th and the BML to be completely not what we expected, or at least the 4th. The majority of the public seems to be going with an engineer type class, it only seems logical lore wise and fit to what we know/see, but it would be awesome if they kind of smacked that down and came up with sumthing other MMOs/games havent done before.

(i know many havent done an engineer class, but how many people thought a prof like the mesmer was coming out in GW1 :P...(granted no1 quite knew the game then XD))

I just noticed, on the GW2 professions page http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/, you can see the other 4 professions in shadow.

Going from Right to left, it looks like

Druid -- look at the staff

To me, the one on the right seems to be maybe a martial arts type of profession, with his arm and hand raised in the air. I'm not really seeing a staff.

I agree with what appears to be the consensus:

Mesmer
Rogue/Highwayman
Blue Mace Thingy - support soldier

Though I'm not sure if I think the Mesmer or Rogue will be the "returning" profession. A straight assassin from Factions doesn't seem to fit, but neither does the Mesmer given the removal of enchants, interrupts, energy, and hexes. Also the Mesmer seems to be begging to be remade into a sort of dandy-adventurer swashbuckling profession - I wouldn't be at all surprised if it wound up being an adventurer.

I'm frankly also a bit curious if the BML hasn't been a dead end all along. It seems so very similar to what the warrior already does - heavy armor, melee, with support... I mean the warrior has shouts and banners, isn't that already support of a kind?

I just wonder if those roles are really distinct enough. I suppose it would be pretty different if the BML actually had support-oriented weapon skills, for example a melee strike that heals nearby allies, or a sword flourish that applies regen and might boons, that sort of thing. The BML could also be sort of a spiritual successor to the smiting monk, but that seems unlikely.

Also, has ANet mentioned that there will be 3 total "support" oriented professions, or am I making that up?

As for the 4th profession, I think an engineer of some kind is a strong possibility, but I'm skeptical if that would be a good match for a Norn or Sylvari character.

1. Chronomancer: I would like to see this profession since it was never released because of Utopia being cancelled.

2. Summoner: Same as chronomancer.

3. Mesmer: Not saying i want this profession back, it just seems like a high possiblity that it will.

4. Shadow Knight: wouldnt bet my life on it, but it would be cool. (dark paladin)

The remaining scholar will probably be mesmer, but i think they should make the chronomancer or summoner since they never got a chance.

Remember the Creed:

Nothing is true and everything is permitted.

I agree mostly with Jeahr, and most of the posters in this thread.

From what I have been told, the last professions will be released with: 1 having the same name, 1 having a different name but still a copy of Guild Wars 1, and two new professions. There will also be one more "scholar", two more "adventurers" and one more "soldier".

The one coming with the name back is in my opinion the Mesmer. It was specific to Guild Wars, so why should it be renamed in the next game? I think it's such an iconic guild wars character, that it will be welcomed back with open arms. This will take up the scholar slot.

The returning name changed character will probably be the Assassin, but renamed something like "Rogue" or maybe "Emissary". This is such a popular archetype and class in Guild Wars 1, and to top it off there is some "leaked" concept art of a very assassin-esque looking character. This will take up one of the remaining adventurer slots.

The new soldier that will be coming back will be the "Blue Mace Lady", which is essentially a "Paladin", "Valkyrie", "Cleric" or for a more Guild Wars themed name, "Knight". Basically, a Holy Warrior that buffs/heals and deals subpar, but still substantial damage. There has been concept art leaked for this character as well, so it's not too far off of what they were thinking... or it would seem that way. I personally think this character will be named the "Knight" for this reason: When the Shining Blade and the White Mantle come together at the end of the War in Kryta, they form the Seraph. The majority of the White Mantle were "White Mantle Knights" so it would seem like a name that could stick. Might be a stretch, but that's my call for now.

The last adventurer will have to take the role of ranged melee DPS in my opinion. Some would say the Ranger are the masters of this, but from the look of it and all the sayings of Arenanet point to it being a primary pet class. This leaves the ranged melee dps open to something like a "Gunner" class. It has also been said that there will be more "fire and forget" pets that you have no control over. This is where they could add that in, with turrets and such.

Those are just my ideas, and reading over this I came to the conclusion that this post was very long so sorry about the wall of text!

Well seeing as mesmer came up a few times in Ghosts of Ascalon (I recommend the read) I think the return is eminant. Which only leaves 3 left to come up.

Philosophy: I've played a lot of MMO's and it only makes sense that we have an assassin like class. Even if the name changes (I don't know why assassin is a pretty cool name)the class will be there. Mesmer was a class unique to guild wars in many ways so ya the same goes to it as far as a return. The skills of the ritualist, paragon, and dervish professions will probably be diffused into all of the professions. The remaning new classes will probably resemble other things we have seen in different games (i.e. WoW, Aion, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Boulders Gate, Any game you can think of.) Probably a druid/nature type class and a Paladin/Spell knight.

So here are my predictions:

1. Light Armor - Scholor - Mesmer (I'd love for them to return they make PvP an interesting challange though terribly annoying)

2. Medium Armor - Adventurer - Assassin/Dagger Warrior (Every game needs a stealthy class so that a-holes can pop up out of the shadows and rip players to shreads.)

3. Medium Armor - Adventurer - Druid/Nature based (So... Norns like nature and Humans live in what is kind of like a giant jungle and Sylvari are pretty much plants... odds are one of them is a hippy. lol)

4. Heavy Armor - Soldier - Paladin/Spell Knight (A Mage and a Warrior had a baby and this is what popped out. Would an MMO be complete without a class for people who can't choose melee vs magic? Probably but it wouldn't be as cool :P)

I think the ranger takes care of the druid/nature based character.

"Spirit skills — summon a nature spirit that influences the area around it."

I think that the 3rd adventurer class will be something different. Hopefully escaping what would be the mmo norm.

This is a post I made on another forum ;). This is a new idea I've come up with, that is a little more than a shot in the dark. I'll copy and paste it here to see what you guys think. This is the picture I'm referencing: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/c/cb/Professions_reveal_7.jpg/800px-Professions_reveal_7.jpg

Ok, for this post, I'm gonna need some of you guys to work with me here. Let your imaginations wonder, lol.

What if the Mesmer or Assassin is combined with the "Gunner" and it now is Pirate themed.

First, lets just say the Mesmer is the merged one. If so, the Charr on the far left would be the Mesmer (I know, weird.)
That would put the Assassin as the second to the left. The BML could be far right.

If the Assassin was joined in with as a Pirate, then put the Mesmer on the second to the right.

That would open up an entire new profession possibility (which really would be a surprise for most). It could be either the second to the right, or second to the left.

Let's assume this is possible. What could the completely new profession be??

That's an interesting theory. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the mesmer merged with a more swashbuckling class - frankly I don't see any other way to make the profession work - otherwise they're so dependent on hexes and conditional abilities, how on earth would you give them any basic weapon skills/attacks? Thus I think mesmer will return to the game, but I imagine it will play and feel vastly different than what we expect.

As for what the completely new profession could be, I honestly don't even have a guess. the Guildwars lore already has druids, but they're sort of like the dwarves - they've left the world. I kind of doubt for that reason that they'd be a playable profession.

I dunno, I still think there is probably going to be another ranged specialist - it feels strange that the only real physical ranged character is tied to being a pet class - and mixing that with the mesmer or assassin doesn't feel right to me. Sure, an assassin can probably use pistols, but they're not going to be a "ranged specialist" - nor do I see the mesmer being anything other than a magic-something hybrid at most. Certainly not carrying a rifle.

Perhaps they'll be content with only having the one ranged profession, since the warrior can play as a ranged character so well...
