Hmm lets see. Nobody dies you that well and you told us nothing as far as your taste in games, age, etc.

Atari 2600? Everybody loves it?

I like my PS3, but XBOX seems to be the way to go if you plan on playing a lot of online titles.

It depends on what you like, but I'd have to go with the 360 for imo the best library.

Happy PS3 user here. If you can afford it, PS3 and Xbox. Wii is fun, but only for a short while.

Get anything but a Wii. Personally, I have both 360 and PS3.

If you like the older NES, SNES, and Sega games, the Wii is great. The sports games are fun, the newer Mario games are fun, and the party games are fun.

I have all three, and enjoy all three, but I get tired of all of the Wii haters around here. It's a fun little system, it really is. Most likely, a 360 or a PS3 will be more what you want, but the Wii should get it's props.

I have a Wii, but I would rather have a 360. PS3 would be my second choice. I originally got the Wii for my Dad, but he never used it, so it's mine again.

That said, Wii is awesome for playing old Nintendo games. Granted, I could find most of those online with emulators for free if I was really motivated.

My cell phone can play NES, SNES, and Sega games. That's no reason to spend two hundred dollars on a console. If you really want motion gaming the Wii is no longer your only choice. That just leaves the exclusives, and personally can I live without Samus and the plumber.

Since everyone is responding to the viral marketer as a legitimate post, I guess I will too.

So, baring you want to play a very specific console exclusive game(s) that would trump all other factors, I don't see why anyone would buy anything other than a Wii. Perhaps if you had a terrible computer and could not upgrade it.

I've said it before, but it can't hurt to restate it. The problem with the PS3 and 360 can be easily summed up. They are largely redundant with the pc, and where the three overlap the pc is nearly always superior.

Why would I want to play TF2, Left4Dead, Mass Effect, Prototype, GTA 4, Fable, Modern Warfare 2, etc. any of these games on the PS3 or 360 when I can play a better version for the same cost or less on the pc? A large portion of these console's library, and many of them the top games, are all available on the pc.

More than just direct ports though, the PS3 and 360 offer the same general experience as a pc, just with a controller. It hit me hard for the first time when a friend bought Burnout Paradise and I realized we couldn't play multiplayer on the same console. Wow. The PS3 and 360 both tend to specialize in FPS and racing titles, which is something the PC also does extremely well if not better. 8 of the 10 best selling 360 games are FPS (most found on the PC), one is racing, and another is Fable 2 which is a pc available rpg. The Ps3 has a little more platformer/adventure and rpg in its top lineup, but is still largely FPS and racing. Most of the games focus their multiplayer on online matches, which is where the pc easily dominates.

I bought a Wii because I wanted a few specific games that would be exclusive to it, but I'm happy I bought it because it's the only one of the three that I still view as a console and not a gimped pc. All its top titles are exclusive the Wii and can't be found on pc. It focuses on genres that are more sparse on the pc such as adventures, platforming, party games, and other misc. genres. I see about two fps/tps titles on its best selling list and mario kart as the only racing game. It focuses on in-person multiplayer, which is the entire point of console multiplayer. It offers a control setup that is unique to console gaming. Gamepads for pc easily abound, but don't typically do what the wiimote does.

Everything that the Wii does either well (cheap, simple, quality platformers and adventure games) or poorly (online play, graphics, etc.) differentiates it from the pc. Everything the PS3 and 360 do well (graphics, online play, strong FPS and racing libraries, media capabilities) and do poorly (crashes, offline multiplayer, price, etc.) make it similar to the pc.

Why don't they make any "in-person multiplayer" games anymore?? Smiley: motz

ETA: That is, for every console. It's frustrating. I have friends in my house that I want to play with, not online.

Though, Gears of War in Horde Mode is freaking awesome when you've been drinking.

I wish there were more online co-op games. RE5 was a blast to play with one of my friends who doesn't live near me, as was LEGO Star Wars. Aside from those, it seems like most online multiplayer is VS modes. I'm hoping Dragon Age II has an online co-op system, even if it's just hunts-based instead of playing the campaign on multiplayer.

Also, the upcoming HD ports of ICO and SotC, as well as the new Team ICO game (4Q 2011 I think?) are enough to sell me on PS3's exclusive games.

I wish there were more co-op games period. There are many games where it would be a trivial feature to implement and add a lot of potential value.

Totally agree Belkira. The Wii is pretty awesome for old school games, and a lot of the platform games are fun. Wii Sports Resort is quite enjoyable, especially if you have a bunch of friends over. <3 Frisbee golf and badminton! I'm also very excited for Epic Mickey to come out, and the newer Mario games look to be a lot of fun. I haven't played them myself, but I watched my bf play a little bit of the new Super Mario Bros. game that came out last year when he rented it. Also, the Wii is home to the newest Fire Emblem and Zelda games, both of which are awesome. The only thing I'd change is the idiotic point system for buying anything from the virtual console. Just let us buy games with our credit/debit cards for dollars and be done with it.

All that said, if I had to choose between my PS3 and my Wii, I'd pick my PS3 (if it weren't for the fact that it is currently broken and not usable). Works great as a blu-ray player, home media server, and it has a lot of great games. I am personally a huge RPG fan and I love me some Folklore, Disgaea 3 and FFXIII and one of these days I'm going to get a copy of Eternal Sonata. I've also got FF8 and 9 downloaded on mine from the PS store. I'd love to see them get Chrono Cross at some point as I love Chrono Trigger.

I really can't comment on the 360 since I don't have one. I've heard it has a better library of exclusive RPG's, but I'm satisfied with the games I have now, especially since I haven't beaten them all because I spend too much time playing WoW. =x

I agree I miss playing things like goldeneye for hours on end and **** like that. Although I do look forward to playing some splitscreen PS3 games when they get that 3DTV splitscreen thing going strong. No more cheating!.

I'm looking forward to LotR: The War in the North almost solely because it's 3-player co-op. I just hope it doesn't suck.

I am not sure you know what you are talking about.

http://www.brokemycontroller.com/news/881-sony-files-two-patents-related-to-stereoscopic-screen-sharing

Using a 3D TV to get rid of split screen. IE. blocking 1 image from the others vision. Essentially producing 2 2D images but only allowing each player to view one. Ergo, ending split screen.

My opinion is get a PS3. Xbox nickles and dimes their customers, limit the players options for hardware changes and is already maxing out its potential. I will give Xbox that it does have a more robust online, but you pay extra for it.

This is how I break it down.

PS3 299$ you get 1 wireless rechargeable controller, I has built in Wifi, an exchangeable hard drive to pretty much any size (takes most if not all laptop hard drives). Built in Bluray which is very nice with HD tv. Free online play. 120 gig Internal HDD to save all you online purchases/movies/games.

Xbox you pay monthly for the online, I haven't checked recently but you got 1 wired controller with the system if you wanted wireless you paid more, if you wanted Rechargable wireless you paid even more, otherwise you used batteries. You have to buy wireless dongle to connect to your wireless network, which was like 100 dollars last I checked. If you want a bigger Harddrive your forced to only buy the Xbox Hard drive which are overly inflated.

Now I'm not trying to rip on the Xbox, and Sony is no saint. These are my opinions or my views on this subject.

Probably because for 15 years its been widely considered the most functional controller in terms of comfort and control.

I hate the xbox controller. It's large and awkward to hold. And I feel like the buttons are never where I want them. The 360's is better than the original, though.

Still, though, nothing's as bad as this monstrosity.
