Scarcity of Some ResourcesFollow

Of course, I am talking about Tin. The incredible scarcity of Tin has been remarked upon in forums and in-game chat ad nauseum, but really, Turbine? Is this really necessary? For 2 crafts, Weaponsmith and Metalsmith, Tin is critical because of Bronze. You cannot get out of Apprentice with large quantities of Tin. have you seen the AH prices for Tin? Assuming you can find any at all. Tin is the bottleneck preventing 2 crafts from progressing, and is a big reason why so many players never get those 2 crafts beyond Apprentice. They give up.

But that is not really what made me start this post... Rowan Branches. Not as rare as Tin, gods know, but it is hard enough to find that it is an issue. Is it too much to ask that certain places, especially heavily wooded places like the Bindbole Woods, should have a high concentration of these tier 1 nodes? Bindbole is so thickly forested, they should be so common there you cannot swing a dwarf by his beard without hitting a Rowan Branch!

How about a little bit of sanity in node placement? Mineral Deposits should be thicker along the base of cliff faces and in Quarries. Branches should be where you see trees!

Leveling up my Man Captain (or Captain Man a I like to call him, *snicker*... I need to get out more), I had to actively search for Tin Deposits to support his production of Bronze Ingots. With my Elf Hunter, however, I found that Ered Luin had more Tin Deposits than Copper. Perhaps it's worth going to Ered Luin to farm the tin and then Bree-land to farm the copper?

As for Rowan Branches, I found the Man starting area (you know, around Combe) to be full of them. Perhaps it's because I'm on a EU server.

In any case, what annoys me more is the stuff vendors sell, or rather the lack of stuff they sell. For cooking, you need a million things and in each recipe there's one ingredient you can't get at a vendor. Want to make some Hard Biscuits? Okay, you can buy the water, eggs and butter from the vendor, but flour... no, you need to make the flour yourself, using items that only Farmers have access to. So I either need to be a Farmer or buy the stuff from a Farmer. Not exactly easy when you're still level scrub on a quiet server. And it was even worse the first time around, since I was brand spankin' new to the game and had no idea what vendors sold what.

Speaking of which, why are we scattering the vendor items all over the map? One vendor in Combe sells one thing, another in Staddle sells something else. And sometimes you'll even find two vendors right next to each other, both selling food products, but both with different ingredients.

Ps. On an unrelated note, the vendor selling system is probably the most inefficient I've ever seen in any MMO. You can't right-click items to sell them, you have to go to the Sell tab and sort out the 80-items window there. And you have to LOCK items so you don't accidentally sell them, but you can only click items in your backpack by holding down Alt as well. Who in the hell came up with this crap?

There's a reason I mostly play that -other- MMO Mazra.
I do like crafting in LOTRO more than WoW, however, it is a bit inconvenient. On my server it's kill or be killed for Tin, but I'm finding a good amount in the Marshes outside of Straddle. Also, once you hit level 200 in Mining or whatever it's called, you can crit, making 2 ore into around 6 bars. It's quite handy. Then, you can crit your bronze, making the normal 2 bars into around 6 bars. It's tailoring I'm having trouble leveling simply because of how it needs leather I can't make. The two characters per server limit hinders my crafting greatly.

On a side note, have you noticed the Elf / Dwarf area being CONSIDERABLY more difficult than the Man / Runt area? I heard LM was a good class to solo up, but my pointy eared beast taming molotov coctail throwing LM literally can NOT defeat things at his level (I'm currently fighting the wights in north Erud Luin). If I pull VERY carefully, let the raven hit them a few times, use pots, and bust my ***, I still tend to lose. It's extremely frustrating.

I found the Elven leveling zone both pre- and post-tutorial to be easier, or faster, than the Human zone. My Hunter hit level 15 in what seemed like half the time of my Captain. Perhaps it's because I was getting the hang of certain things, but on my Captain I felt like I was running everywhere, twice, in the snow and uphill. That forest outside Combe? You go there, go back, get a new quest there, go back, get two new quests there, and so on.

Lots of running.

The Elven zone has a horse trail going pretty much up through the length of the zone, allowing for fast access. And being a Hunter, I had a slight advantage as well when it came to running.

I found the Human starting zone easier to farm, though. Especially those 60 wolves and 60 spiders traits. Everything is sort of clumped up nicely in that forest, whereas the Elven land has it scattered all over.

Edit: The wights, yes, are a pain. My Hunter's wearing medium armor, but more than two wights on me and I fold. Same with the Dourhand base. You get to a point where you have to fight three birds and two Dourhands. Luckily I was a ranged class, so I took out two birds on their way over, but with one bird and two Dourhand beating on my NPC guy, he went down fast. No heals make instances harder.
