Well, what's the first thing people think of when they hear the name Square (pretty much of the games before XI)? What do people like the most about them? Why did they keep coming back?
Was it because of the spectacular UI that the previous games had? Was it the graphics? From what I've heard, most people kept coming back because of a great storyline. But everyone today is only complaining about the technical aspects and not the aesthetics. So far, this game has more storyline (even BEFORE the release) than 95% of other RPGs out there, MMO or not.

If you can sit through the CURRENT problems (as in, they may be fixed later), you might find something that you actually used to LOVE about Square. And I'm not talking about the levequests. Those don't expand on the story (to a point). It's after you start leveling up that you see more and more of an amazing background of Eorzea and what role you play. Unfortunately, nobody has the patience to sit through that far, and just like people think Square only cares about graphics, YOU only care about controls/UI.

In more than a couple RPGs, you have to sit through the bad to get to the good. Just remember that, unlike linear RPGs, MMOs can be repaired in-game. Try to remember what you loved about Square and don't judge them by what you hate about it this second. I'm know you'll find something....easpecially if you can reach level 20 ^^

Please don't try to use us as a tool to convince yourself. If you're having doubts about the game, then we're not going to reassure you. I guarantee that.

Sorry, then. Maybe I shouldn't have posted, but just keep in mind that there are people that play the game and love it.

The title was "Enix" after all. I should've probably stayed on the subject.

Square used to be all about pretty graphics. But they used to back it up with a decent storyline (never exceptional) and a good system. Not UI, but full on battle system. Now-a-days I wouldn't even put them as the best company graphically. That honour I'd happily hand over to Konami/Kojima Studios for MGS4 and the lastest Castlevania, both of which look absolutely stunning. Final Fantasy XIV doesn't look absolutely stunning. It does for an MMO but compared to offline games it's 'pretty good'.

If somebody offered you a free ticket to the best funfair in the entire world, but you had to work your way through the middle of a 20ft high, 100 meter long solid wall of **** to get it, would you? I wouldn't. Final Fantasy XIII and XIV are lucky I even went through the first two meters of faeces. I pity the people that went through it all just to get a bit of enjoyment from the game.
#56REDACTED, Posted: Nov 08 2010 at 8:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) exix didnt kill anything they had better games than square, and even though enix bought squaresoft, squaresoft is still in charge. what happened is all there new people killed the games, where the old times moved on and moved up. like every other game company theses days they all suck right now i cant remember the last time i bought a game. from the look s of it its gonna get worse with all the motion control games comming out. gaming is dead to me now everything is for kids now so they can grab some new players. technology is greater than gameplay, used to be the other way around.
