Hey guys, now that it's been out a week or two, how many of you are playing Halo: Reach? How many are completely addicted to it like me? Hahahaha, I absolutely love the game. Can't get enough of it for real, and I haven't been able to say that about any type of video game in a long, long time.

I don't know if it's in my profile or not, but my gamertag is "NFS Fahros". We should use this thread to get together with other players for some games. Maybe we can post a timezone/schedule with our posts so we can figure out who we can easily meet up with for some game time. I"ll go first.

---

Gamertag: NFS Fahros

Timezone: Central Time

Availability: I play almost every weekday evening, anywhere from 5pm-12am. Weekends I go out and about sometimes, so they're not as predictable, but during the week I don't do much so I spend a lot of time gaming Halo after I get home from the university.

---

I'd be more than happy to play with people of any skill level. Personally, me and a small group of friends just picked up the game, and are pretty new. We aren't really console-fps savvy quite yet, but we're working hard to quickly become adept at the controller and the game's mechanics. So if you're not the best player, don't be intimidated and feel free to join us for some games to have fun. If you are a skilled player on the other hand, you should take me personally in sometime for some games, hahaha. I'm getting pretty decent pretty quick, and it's rare that I get steamrolled by any means. I need to play with players of a higher skill to continue to get better though!

---

Also, inc shameless self promotion, hah. If any of you would like to check out my Youtube channel, I just got it up and running a day or so ago. Only 1-2 games on there now, but a third is rendering atm and should be out tomorrow morning. I put up some commentary with the gameplay, so hopefully it's remotely entertaining, and if you're a new player you might learn a thing or two. If you're not, well, maybe you can teach me a thing or two! lol Let me know what you all think, and lets play sometime!

San Andreas did it first, sort of.

Sorry it's the best selling single piece of entertainment of 2010. :) Almost the top selling FPS of all time, despite it being Xbox 360-exclusive.

On the MLG circuit...

Yeah, I'd say people give a sh*t.

That's a mighty big pile of delusional bullsh*t you're shoveling. Even fairly average selling movies and albums have far outsold Halo. Hell, if you were to add up the total units sold for all of the Halo games over the last nine years, you might be able to equal the total number of tickets sold for an average summer movie.

Um, have you seen the numbers for Reach? $200 million on release day.

Yes, I've seen the numbers. For a game they aren't bad, but we aren't talking just games. New guy specifically said piece of entertainment. In terms of units sold, the only real way to compare sales of different media, no game comes even remotely close to movies and music.

And yet, it's still the biggest game so far this year. He might've exaggerated, but you're underestimating by calling his post a "mighty big pile of delusional bullsh*t." If you want to get technical, you implied that no one gives a **** about Halo anymore. Now that's a "mighty big pile of delusional *************** it being the highest grossing game so far this year.

You keep insulting me but yet you're not linking any numbers or links to back up what you're saying. If you want to try and break somebody down (for whatever reason, I didn't do anything to you...) at least come at them with some evidence, so you can prove them wrong. Rather than turn it in to a "Yes huh", "Nuh uh!" childish back and forth, like you've done so far.

Just a tip.

Like mentioned, Reach sold $200million on release day. You're emptily claiming that Halo comes nowhere "even remotely close to movies and music". The top selling movie this year was Iron Man 2. On opening weekend, Iron Man 2 only made $128mil, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Over time it accumulated up to $312million, but if you don't think Halo Reach will end up catching and surpassing that (if it hasn't already) you're not worth debating with, to be frank.

Source: http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/

Please in the future refrain from personally insulting people, when you have almost no idea what you're talking about.

Thank you!

Again, to reiterate: Yeah, I think people still give a sh*t about Halo.

To be fair, that's $8-15 or so a movie ticket vs. $50(?) or something like that a game. And the DVD/Blu-Ray sales have only just begun(or maybe are just about to begin?), so it'll probably sell well there too.

On the other hand, ignore Turin. He's a bit of a **** about games he doesn't play. Smiley: tongue

It's not like it matters. Lowest common denominator games always sell high. That's why Nintendogs has outsold the combined three Halo games. It's not an issue worth pursuing.

#14Turin, Posted: Sep 30 2010 at 6:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) First off, if you think that I've insulted you grow a thicker skin. Second, you're own numbers prove you wrong and you're apparently too stupid to know it. Let's ignore the special edition sales and say each copy of Reach cost 60 dollars. At 200 miilion in sales, that's only about 3.3 million units sold. A ticket to Iron Man 2 cost between 8 and 12 dollars. Call it 10, that's roughly 12.8 million tickets sold. About four times as many people saw Iron Man 2 on opening weekend as bought Reach.

Basically, you're wrong, and you're too stupid to know that you're wrong. Also, you're a pathetic whiny *****. That, by the way, was an insult.

As an amusing aside, MS has sold about 43 million 360s. That means that only 7.7 percent of the target audience bought the game.

Your logic is amazing, lol. You've been proven incorrect, so you take what I originally said out of context in a desperate attempt to make yourself look like anything other than completely retarded. This is what I originally said:

Quote:

Implying that it's made more money than any other piece of entertainment of 2010, given the time it's been out. And it has, you cannot deny this. My own numbers do not prove myself wrong, when you read, (I know, it's tough...) what I actually wrote. I didn't say had the most purchases of 2010, you're talking that bullsh*t, not me. If you think that's the best way to compare forms of entertainment I'm going to have to laugh you right out of this thread. Of course you're going to sell more individual movie tickets than video games...are you really that dense? They're cheaper, and readily available to more people than a full priced game. I didn't think I'd have to spell that out to you, I'm impressed by your stupidity.

Let me remind you, you said this:

Quote:
That's a mighty big pile of delusional bullsh*t you're shoveling. Even fairly average selling movies and albums have far outsold Halo.

Which I've completely dis proven. Fairly average selling moves have far outsold Halo? Lol, it's obvious you're just an ignorant troll who hates everything successful and mainstream, I don't know why I'm giving you the time of day, to be honest. Again, I understand you're refuting to only wanting to talk about # of ticket scales because it's the only skewed sense of the debate you're even remotely correct in; but I've already explained why that's an inaccurate viewpoint to look at.

In short: keep grasping at straws kiddo, and keep the insults coming. It's very apparent you're just attempting to compensate for your lack of intelligence.

Good day,

---

Also: Can't believe I got defaulted for the OP. It's a friendly thread, just trying to introduce myself to the community and get a friendly discussion going. I've done nothing to instigate this flame war, merely defended myself, the game I'm playing, and my original point. If that's something you all look down on here at ZAM; well, there's nothing good to say about that.

Probably just a few bad apples though.

Err, Toy story 3 has grossed some $400 million domestically and $1 billion internationally. Halo Reach has a long way to go for your statement about best selling piece of entertainment for 2010 to be true.

Yeah, my link above shows Toy story at a little over 400million. Halo's made documented 300million on it's first week though. It might be over 400million right now, and it's obvious that if it's not now, it will be soon.

Long way to go nothin' to be honest.

To me reads total sales aka units. It has far outsold Halo: Reach. It's pretty simple, really. I personally think the Halo series is garbage, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of shooters in general.
