Help Me Find My Next F2P game!Follow

#1 Sep 23 2010 at 11:09 AM Rating: Decent
Hi guys, wow tons of free to play games out there these days. Its a great time to be a PC gamer. I have been trying out some F2P games mostly using reviews on MMOhut. There are so many I thought I would ask other games for opinions on what to try. So far these are the games I have really liked and kept on my drive.

Allods Online
Need for Speed World

Games that I thought were just good but didn't keep:

Alliance of Valiance Arms (too laggy and dated, better off play CS)
Runes of magic (didn't enjoy the art style, but I appropriated the dept and its endless content)
Lotro (great game, I use to play for sub, once I hit level cap I was done, didn't like the pvp and don't really need it since I play Wow)

Please let me know your favorite F2P game and what you like and don't like about it.
Thanks!

EVE Online, it's space based and free. Good enough for me

League of Legends is pretty good if you like the DotA style of game at all.
Gunbound I haven't played in a while but it's a Korean game similar to the Worms style of games, if you've ever played those. Lots of fun.

Whoops didn't read and see you played Lotro. That's too bad. Lot of people around now with it going F2P. Tons of fun :) Good luck finding another f2p, Allods isn't bad.

I suggest Lord of The Rings Online. It's spectacular and there really aren't many restrictions per say. Basically restrictions of note are you can't trade currency or sell on the Auction House. You can however buy off of the Auction House and trade items. I think this is good, cause I haven't seen one gold farmer since I started. It limits your currency max to about 2 gold. Again not bad because a lot of equipment, crafting, etc will take a lot of your money up until you decide to subscribe.

Also you get access to only the 3 start area quests which essentially can take you to 20, and then Bree-land which takes you to 25-30. You can earn points in-game to buy quest packs and such. You'd have to read about it more on the site.

I have a brand new Final Fantasy XIV Collector's Edition un-opened right on my shelf actually. Not going to touch it. Lord of the Rings Online is actually that good. It's the best F2P right now, hands down. Kudos to Turbine and all the staff involved in making that game what it is.

Until I get bored of Lord of the Rings it's where I'm staying and yes, I did subscribe after a few days of playing. You can pick up the Mines of Moria expansion from a lot of stores/amazon/etc cheap. That's what I did. Good luck and I'm on Imladris server, it's newish.

The basic stuff is f2p, if you want the bigger ships and stuff you gotta pay though.

First I've heard of it. As far as I can tell on the EVE site, it's still P2P.

Pass on Allods, unless you like open world PvP.
At lv 40 (or it might be 30) you ding into open world PvP, and it is unbalanced.
For spending $12m, it really isn't that great of a game.

I have a cousin who is a big beta tester and has played tons of f2p games. He currently is enjoying Global Agenda (I think, it is a Shooter MMO...).

I'm an avid Global Agenda supporter. No I don't play it every day. I may go a few weeks without it but its so worth the price. I think its easy to pick up under 29 bucks. Fun game to login and do a handful of matches. If your timing is good you may catch a raid. Great game to have on your drive.

I did try Cabal, its okay, I can see why people play it, but didn't suck me in.
I saw an article on here about Land of Choas Online (loco), did anyone try this. If so do you have a review for us?
