Myself and a few friends just decided to give this game a try but we ran into a little problem. We are not on the same layer so we can't see each other. We tried to make a group then use the command to join the party leader's layer but all I get is a loading screen and then I end up where I was with the same people around me and still no friends.

Am I missing something or it's how it works and the system needs a fix?

I am not quite sure what you are saying. I have not seen any "layers" or "channels" in this game. If you are on the same server and in the same zone, you are together.

No Blud, the F2P update added layering, basically if you get too many people in one zone, say Archet, the servers make an additional "layer" say Archet 2 for people, and keeps adding em until the load lessens. If your in a group, you should be able to click on the icon and go to the leaders layer, it was working correctly in beta, but might be a bug in the live scripting. Or the current leaders instance is so over loaded they won't allow it. Could always try to switch leaders and try joining theirs.

I think I figured out the problem. Looks like you need to be past the introduction quest line to be able to join your leader on a different layer. We are lvl 10 now and it's working fine... except for the crazy server lag.

I have run into a screwy issue with layering twice. If the game suddenly decides the zone has hit its peak, adds a layer and decides you are one of the folks it's going to move, it doesn't care what you are in the middle of, you will be interrupted and moved.

It's a real pisser if you are right at the tail end of a fight and get layer popped.

My bad. I have seen the Layering icon a couple of times now, but as I very rarely group I have not encountered any problem with changing layers.
