funny, i thought this was a final fantasy xiv general forum, not a lotr board.

i dont know sometimes i forget..

I guess if you want to play a game thats been around for over a year cause your frustrated with a game in B-E-T-A, go for it.

I tried eq2 free version and it is just so limted its not even worth playing. This looks to be the same. Not being able to use chat channels I think ruins it. HArd to get into groups if you can't chat with anybody. I tried playing this game once and didn't much care for it anyways. Can't be bothered to reinstall it just to try it again.

Now if they ever make a free (or cheap) version of Everquest 1 ID prob give it another shot.

This is similar to what SOE did with EQ2's F2P option. Limit the hell out of the game play and get people to spend more money than they would on a normal sub.

Pure genius if you ask me.

Or you know, to give someone who doesnt feel like spending $15 per months on a game they only play for 3 hours a week, and instead they can pay $15 over the course of 5 months and enjoy the game anyway.

It's amazing how many people think that just because a game doesn't have WoW numbers it's somehow failure. That's just not true

Anything that cant pull decent numbers from an old overplayed game of the same genre is fail, and so far thats been every MMO. The biggest complaints about all these MMOs is poor UI, yet they persist on polishing the graphics.

Was a good game for about 8 months or so. I wasn't particularly fond of the end game, but I definitely have some great memories from that game. I'd recommend picking it up and leveling a guy for a bit. Well worth it.

That's about exactly my experience with Lotro. I played for around 6 months, got two characters to 65. The leveling, lore, and quests are all great. I did not really like grouping end game. Targeting is really sloppy and many of the dungeon encounters just felt like chaos.

Plus fellowship maneuvers are just really annoying to me when some micro manager wants to do green yellow green red yellow green. They just break the hell out of the flow of whatever you were actually doing on your character before the burgler or tank randomly decide to start an FM on the first mob they pull and you are not even near it yet.

I'm waiting for them to raise the level cap and introduce a big new area like Rohan or Isengaurd because I really can't see doing Moria or Mirkwood again.

If you have never played the game though and have ever read Tolkien it's a nice treat to interact with the story line as it unfolds.
