I've been following the developments on this and as i am a huge fan of the first game i'm very keen to hear what others think about the first Dead Space and how the 2nd is shaping up.

NEW: Deep Space ZERO-G and H.A.L.O jump.

It was hard for me to play the original for more than 20 minutes at a time without some liquid courage. I'd always have to quit after a short playing session simply because my nerves were totally fried from being on edge the entire time.

I'm glad to see the second installment is progressing well. The horror genre is pretty thin in video games presently.

Haha, same here. I'm a big pansy when it comes to these horror games, but I did manage to enjoy the first Dead Space a lot. It took me a long time to finish just because I would walk down the corridors very slowly, turning around constantly because of the ambient noises.

All in all I thought it was a great experience. One thing I'll always remember is the menu system just because I never felt safe while using it. I'm really looking forward to the second.

Easily worth $10, i was pretty surprised when i hit chapter 6 or something, thinking ya this is probably the end, meanwhile im on chapter 10 later and still going.

Dead space 2 could use a co-op mode, not a story co-op mode, but something, maybe more battle focused, or hell even just a survival mode like avp/avp

I loved the suspense, the Nemesis wannabe chasing you around, and the ******* wall tentacles, but the main complaint I had with the game was the damn asteroid turret minigame and its boss clone.

You remember that hallway where as soon as you walk into it, there's a giant roar, and all of walls smash inwards? I just froze there. For like, 5 minutes. Just aimed down the hallway and waited for something to come out. Smiley: lol

Spoiler alert:

Nothing does.

That's the same with me when I walked past the first hole in the wall. I was like "Oh ****, something is gonna come out and kill me!", and I edged diagonally towards the hole with the Plasma Cutter pointed at it. Got past it no problem, even ran past it a few more times when I was confident that nothing was gonna happen, then BOOM! ******* QTE triggers and the ******* grabbed me when I was almost clear of the room.

Having played the first dead space through 10-15 times, I can't wait for this. The only thing that annoyed me in the first one was that the Plasma Cutter was the most powerful weapon in the game, once it was fully upgraded, and the fact that ammo drops for it almost all the time, although I'm not really sure why that's a problem for me, 'cause it was my favourite weapon.

I don't remember one part in particular that made me freeze stiff and not be able to move, but there was alot of blaspheming and swearing going on, during the first few runs through.

Has there been any information saying if it's for release on PC or not?

Dead Space 2 will be released on 360, PC, and PS3 but only the PS3 version will get the HD remake of the Wii Dead Space: Extraction.

Hahaha I can't remember which part that is unfortunately. It's been a few years since I've played the game. Part of me thinks I subconsciously blocked it out lol. I can't remember what it actually was.

I have to say though, the beginning (yeah laugh at me all you want) scared the crap out of me when you first encounter enemies and can't exactly do much to help yourself.

Those damn wall tentacles are terrible too. Every time one of those things "happened" it'd get a really good jump out of me lol. The first time it happened I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing, so it dragged me quite a way before I realized I could aim and shoot. Luckily I made it in time. A friend told me failing that is quite gruesome.

Another thing I remember is that I'd actually end up doing some pretty silly things due to paranoia, like dismembering dead humans to make sure those corpse humpers wouldn't get to em. It seems to have paid off because I only died once from aliens during my entire time playing. The rest of my deaths were due to that damn meteor with the revolving... metal thingies. Yeah, I didn't know you could walk around to the other side of it to plant the device and I kept getting chopped up by it as I tried to plant the explosives haha.

The one alien death I did have ended up being extremely lame. Those little bug things, the ones that just kind of crawl on you, I wasn't paying attention and turned a corner I thought was clear... it wasn't :( No epic death scene, just Isaac hopping around like he had a bunch of ants on him, then falling over.

That was quite an introduction. A bit predictable with the whole "Let's split up!" thing, but when the necromorph starts to open up the elevator doors to get you after you think you've escaped I was thoroughly startled.

I played through DS with headphones on. The sounds of things skittering past you through the ventilation system was so freakin' creepy.

This sounds like a game I need to reconsider purchasing.

I'd definitely recommend it. I really enjoyed Dead Space. I've probably played it through 4 times total since it's release. It has high replay value in my opinion with all the shock and awe.

I bought it, installed it, played 10 minutes, then had to exit and burn through a pack of cigarettes. I absolutely can't handle horror games. F.E.A.R. had me in shreds somewhere in the middle of the entire thing as well. When you climb down a ladder and the game automates it and as you turn around to climb down, the girl is standing right there in front of you... I screamed out loud, like a little girl, while throwing my cordless mouse across the desk and onto the floor.

Holy crap, I've never been scared like that, ever.

The worst death in the whole game.

WARNING: THAT VIDEO IS EXTREMELY DISTURBING. IF YOU DO NOT TAKE HORRIFIC DEATHS THAT WELL DO NOT WATCH IT.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

You forgot to mention that the video was from Dead Space and not the sequel.

Anyway if anyone was dumb enough to get caught by the Hunter they deserved to die. On my first playthrough after I stasis'd it and cut of limbs, I even took the time to move the bunks back into place to slow it down.
