DPS DruidFollow

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to make a DPS druid, I will obviously go the dd path, but what I was wondering is: What Stats should I focus on? I was reading that intelligence and dexterity might be good but I'm not sure. I also need help with my level 7 Halfing Druid starting zone quest where I have to meet Rondo, who is in bear form, near some standing stones. I went out the west gate of Rivervale and found some standing stones atop a hill I ran around and couldn't find, or, get Rondo to spawn. Here is the quest as posted by http://www.crypticsouls.ca

Quote:
Level 7
Starting NPC: Deke
1. Deke sends you to Rondo Thistlefoot, he will be in bear form, and can be found around the Standing Stones Wall, which are NE of the exit of the Misty Thicket tunnel.

2. Find Rondo, he will give you his report, return to Deke.

3. Deke, sends you to him three regants for a mixture.

3.1 Venom from a Thicket Viper.
3.2 Moss from a tree in Kithcor Forest (find a fallen tree along the path, there is a popup)
3.3 Scrapings from the Standing Stone in Misty Thicket, along the wall there will be a popup.

4. Return to Deke

Any help on any of these subjects would be greatly appreciated!

ciao,

Mike

So as a 46 Paladin you're able to find grind groups?

Intelligence doesn't sound right, Dex and Wis should be your focus. Wisdom increases the power pool of healers much the same as Int does for casters.

As for the quest I remember having a hell of a time on a quest that sounds a lot like that, unfortunately I don't remember anything more of it.

I got the quest figured out and I'm now level 25! All i need is those five levels between pickclaws and DM run. Thanks for the stats gives me a focus, i was also wondering if DPS druids are viable in raids, or are they just unwanted?

Caio,

Druids typically weren't ever big in raids as a healer or anything else but I'm sure you could find a place, especially nowadays when there's less and less people on. I really can't speak much to what guilds prefer in raids as I have only be involved in a few through the last couple years during my off and on revisits to the game, but I never got the impression that anything was unwanted...and you always have the porting abilities.

Typically, if you want to do DPS, a Wiz or Bst would be a better option than Dru. That being said however, there are a few things you can do that I have done on my druid to pump out as much DPS as possible.

WIS (not INT) is the stat you should focus on for Druids. Get as much Heroic WIS as possible too!!! Nothing else matters (IMHO).

1. Max level

2. Get all your AAs - especially those that deal with direct damage increase and crits, as well as those that ensure your crit will stick and the twincast AA.

3. Fire will be your most damage spells, so get yourself some Tonic of Resonant Fire XIV from the baz or have a shammy friend make them.

4. Use First Spire as often as it is available, cast Twincast whenever it is available, and hopefully when First Spire is up.

5. Don't bother with pets, clickies, or direct damage AAs, go directly for spells - otherwise you will be taking time away from being able to cast higher damage nukes.

6. Always cast a fire debuff to increase fire damage to mobs. I would suggest Withering Sunray. Also Skin to Flora which makes the mob susceptible to whatever a plant might be susceptible to such as fire.

7. Consider Winter's Flare in your spell lineup. It casts a fire nuke followed by a separate frost nuke, all in one spell. Both can crit.

8. And finally...A DEAD DRUID HAS NO DPS!!! Use silent casting AA. Make sure you got a tank that can hold agro - SK's are best; they hold agro with hate spells. Warriors hold agro with DPS, so if you out-dps him for a short burst of time, you will get agro. Pallies hold agro with stun spells, so until they stun the mob the first time you don't want to jump in with all your nukes or you will get agro. BST do not get taunt so you will almost always steal agro from them as tanks. RNG tanks dont have taunt but they provide more DPS than you can put out, so as long as they are pumping the DPS, you can too safely. Only the best Mage Pets will hold agro off you. Entrap the mob so if the tank looses agro and the mob comes after you he is at least snared. Create a hot button to let your healer know when you are going to cast Twincast. Get all your CS and CA ranks so you can take a hit or two. Be prepared to start healing yourself if you get agro - the spell Survival of the Felicitous is almost an instant cast and will provide you with one really fast heal that will replenish most of your health. Adrenaline Burst is quick and heals a lot, but recast time is slow. Granvida is a slower heal but instantly refreshes. Promised Reknit is super fast and delayed 18 second heal. If you are taking gradual slow damage from AEs you can quickly PR yourself and be healed 18 seconds later, PR also works well if you need to run or kite. You just stop for a second, PR yourself and run like mad for 18 seconds.

Irisdude: This is PS2 EQ (EQOA). Your info looks to be from EQPC. You're in the wrong section.

dukereuchre: This isn't WoW. Druids don't "DPS". Druids heal. If you want to make a Druid for damage, in comparison to all the DD classes, you will fail. It is doable (perspective/definition dependent), but pointless. You will do no real damage, and if you do, it will never be worth the power loss.

As any type of Druid, you will want to focus on Wisdom. Wisdom is power.
As a damage Druid, you'll want to raise Dexterity. Dexterity is damage. Dexterity also power, but halfso as much as Wisdom.
As a healing Druid, you'll want to raise Charisma. Charisma is healing.
As any class, you'll want Stamina for obvious reasons.

My advice to you is to just be a Druid. You won't ever excel at damage or healing (except possibly group healing), so don't try. Raise Wisdom as much as possible. Charisma really doesn't add THAT much to heals, so don't stress about it. Raise Dexterity for power, but again, don't go too out of your way for it. If you can, and if you are happy with your other stats (Sta Dex Wis Cha) you might as well add to Agility. Agility is said to be about 1/3 of your defense (the other 2/3 probably being from AC). Haven't ever tested Agility to see how much it really matters, so I don't know if you'll ever notice a difference.
