Way to miss that this was already addressed. Oh no, a new guy thought people here play WoW! It's an easy mistake to make if you get here through the WoW skin since the other games aren't mentioned anywhere within that skin (except at the very bottom of the page, where no one reads). But sure, blow up on the dude for an honest mistake.

Speaking of generalizing, you just insulted every WoW player here.

Good job, Turin. By the way, didn't you play WoW back in the days?

I'm fine with insulting every WoW player. And yes, I tried it, that's why I can say with all honesty that it's an awful game.

I played WoW and it's a good enough game. It was just that, after years of playing Everquest, I didn't see a reason to play EQ-Lite. Really, that's what keeps me out of the MMORPG fantasy genre in general these days.

That's an awful lot of people to insult.

Look, you hate the game. We get it. But talking **** to the newbies is out of line, IMO. The admins came down on the OOT for that kind of thing, you wanna bring them here? I didn't enjoy the talking to we got over there and I don't want to go through the same thing again. So if you hate the game, hate the game. Talk **** about the game if you must, eat your ratedowns. Not a big deal.

But no one likes the forum assclown.

I'm on a WoW hiatus right now, as the game is awfully dry and repetitive at the moment. I've been playing a lot of CoD: MW2 on either PC or PS3 (depending on my mood, I guess). I recently downloaded League of Legends to get into the DotA style game, and I gotta say it's very fun.

While I thought so too, at first, they actually grow on you. You'll get the hang of it at some point or simply stop paying mind to it.

Depends on what you mean by 'awful', I guess. Maybe you could provide some facts instead of your personal opinion and charming personality?

Yes, I used to play that game as well. Feel free to insult it if it makes you feel better. It's nothing to me.

I was going to use it to deride your taste in games, actually. Here we go!

Your ability to evaluate the relative merits of video games is found lacking when compared to the ability of your peers.

@Turin

Just a small correction, I did not mean it as a personal offense. Now, if I were to tell that you made yourself look like an elitist cockmongling jerk, that would be a personal offense.

Anywho, I'm currently no longer playing Team Fortress 2, as I got kinda bored of it... So, since quite a lot of people I know say that Starcraft is such a good series, I'm considering to buy it. Of course I'll buy Starcraft 1 first though, Starcraft 2 is a little too expensive for my taste right now...

Any thoughts on Starcraft 1, and wether I should try it out or not?

If you've never played SC1, then I do recommend buying the battle chest (or download both games) just to play through the campaigns. The story is great and it will be helpful to know what's going on when you play SCII.

Also, you seem new to the site and your style of quoting is... different. I'm not sure if you're aware but there is a way to directly quote someone's post (like you've seen others do in this thread and others). If you click the "Reply to this" button above someone's post (on the same line as the posting time right above the poster's name), it will bring up the reply message editor. You can simply then click the "Quote Original" button (right under the box with the thread Subject) to insert the entire post as quoted text. Alternately, you can use the [ quote]Quoted text[ /quote] tags (without the spaces) to put any text in quote boxes. :)

^ Like this.
Text in here
is my most used tag, I believe.

Heheh, thanks, I already wondered how I was supposed to quote on these forums. :P

While I definitely recommend playing Starcraft/Brood War, It's been about ten years for me yet I find Starcraft II easy to pick up storywise. The installer and the quickstart manual do a great job of summarizing the story.

Don't get me wrong, do play Starcraft. It's very good, although that's genuinely the only thing I recall it being. Damn you, brains.

Well, I went and picked up my credit card, and bought Starcraft - Brood War for my PC ;)

While I'm still only just in the Terran campaign, I already quite like the game, although it seems to lack a few features I like to see such as tooltips and so on. Then again, it makes up for it for being more challenging then Warcraft 3 (At the moment, that is :P).

So yea, I'll keep you updated as I progress through Starcraft, and I'll let you know what I think!

    Currently Playing:
  • Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

    Recently Played:
  • Mass Effect 1 & 2
  • Portal
  • Ghostbusters

    Looking forward to:
  • WoW: Cataclysm. I've been on hiatus since last October, and I'm looking forward to seeing the changes to the 1-60 content that Cataclysm is promising.
  • Dragon Age. I've been keeping an eye out for a good sale on it. I don't have the disposable income to pay retail for games right now, so when I see it for $20 or less on D2D, I'll probably pick it up.
  • Diablo 3. Yeah, I know it's not even in beta yet, but I've been waiting for it for years.

Also, I used to play WoW. I can't see me ever playing it again. Yuck.

Playing EQ2 now, finally got around to getting FF XIII, downloaded some old SNES games on the Wii... that's taking up most of my time now.

I just played the ***** out of King Arthur the Roll Playing War Game. Its a brutal RTS that just throws waves of problems at you non stop along with some pretty graphics and neat historical mythology including lots of stuff with the Sidhe and Tauth de Denann fairies which I dig.

Lots of different scenarios depending on your morality Right/Old Faith/Christian(Crusaders)/Tyrant.

You get to nuke entire regiments of cavalry with lightning bolts that send horses flying in every direction or breath fire on them. Lots of cool weapons and artifacts. Tons of micro management of economy, fiefdoms, units, knights, weather, on and on...

The UI is screwy and hard to learn. The game crashes on you right after you just fought an epic and hard battle making you replay it. If you ***** up and walk into enemy territory before you mean to you can suddenly have way too many armies invading your land than you can ever deal with.

I loved it.

Well, after a long, long struggle, I was barely able to beat the final level of the Terran campaign of Starcraft. I really want to slap the person who made this level... Sure, Starcraft has no difficulty setting, but does this level have to be so rediculously hard?!
That, or I just suck at playing Terrans, since I lost my first custom game as Terrans too... :P

Anywho, so now I started the Zerg campaign. I kinda have to get used to how you create buildings and units and such, but at least it seems easier to play then the Terrans.

Other then that, I still pretty much play the same thing... Often play Runes of Magic, play WoW, and I've actually almost beaten Final Fantasy 5! Great game with great bosses, and I'm going to miss it. I might give Final Fantasy 4 or Chrono Trigger another try once I'm done with it...
