NOOB-FRIENDLY MMO, ANYONE?Follow

#1 Feb 02 2010 at 11:33 PM Rating: Sub-Default
If I were to a suggest a noob-friendly mmo, it would be atlantica online. I would know because I’ve been a noob at many other mmo’s but a lesser one at atlantica.

One of the reasons is the auto functions present in the game particularly the automove function. The automove used to be license but a patch update has been done and it is now permanent. What’s good about this is that it puts the character on ‘autopilot’ and I can proceed to the next quest without getting lost.

Another is the quests – the first few are tutorials like how to hire mercenaries and use the different aspects of the game interface. Other quests also help a lot in leveling up because they require killing monsters.

Do you work for Atlantica Online? Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen you post without pimping that game...

I always thought there was a difference between Noob and Newb...

Noob meaning you're a complete idiot, usually deliberately and Newb just being a new guy and unfamiliar with the mechanics.

So, you're saying you can deliberately be an idiot in Atlantica Online? And you have been in many other MMO's? That sounds like a fun game indeed!

This is how I have always defined the 2 words.

And I agree with Rykhorne. The only time I've seen the OP post, he is trying to get people to come play this game - which I thought was lame.

I'm glad people like to play MMOs with auto-play features. I can't wait for the next gen-MMOs where you don't even have to download the program, just sign up..and if you do at some later point in time want to download the program and log in..you will find that your toon is leveled and pretty much able to function without you controlling it what so ever.

I'd say this applies to 95% of games out there, MMO or otherwise.

And yes, that's all this person seems to do is talk about AO. And he's the only person I know of who's had good things to say about it.

He's posted a few times in the Asylum and the admins have ok'ed the kid. Apparently he's a foreigner who is ESL and apparently just really enthusiastic about a lame ******* game.

Fair enough. At least he's coherent and polite. Even when folks bash on his game he doesn't seem to succumb to nerd-rage.

My fiancee's grand-nephew (son of her cousin) is the same way about Runescape and a couple of random MUD-style games. Gets kind of annoying when all the kid wants to talk about is a game that's literally older than he is, and wasn't exactly great back then either...

It's not a bad game. It's actually one of the better reviewed free to play games and it can be fun to play occasionally, imo.

SOme people have tried to push for a some sort of contrived difference, but most people I know tend to use them interchangeably.

That is a staple of a mmo. :P

BlackyLakshmi pretty much said the same thing and is a generally accepted view on the two terms.

Ohai thar, necro post.

Originally this thread is from February, we're writing September now. Seven months.

I've seen better necros. Smiley: disappointed

It's this Jennylea character. I think it's a SorinMarkov clone - randomly necros for no reason and basically responds directly to the OP without reading the thread.

What about the game that plays itself? http://progressquest.com/ Now with the ability to play in your browser, so you don't even need to install it!
