Sleeping Dogs: Year of the Snake DLC is 70% off ($2.10) on GG as well. They have some sort of Spring Sale starting so I'm sure some other stuff will pop up.

Edit: Two weeks worth of daily sales plus other deals. Should have something worthwhile in there.

From what I heard it's a crappy game. You can't headshot the Zombies (only shooting them in the heart stops them), and there are barely any actual sniping areas so you're mostly on foot using a machine gun.

That debunks the "Can't headshot zombies" theory.

"What are you with the glasses? Some sort of nerd guy?"
"Yeah, I'm Foucault."
"You're not f--king Foucault."

I don't know why but that exchange cracked me up.

Deponia is 66% off today on Steam.

I keep seeing this game and really would like to get it. Kind of hoping that it, and the bundle of other games from the same developer, will go on sale for 75% off during the next big steam sale. (Is that spring, or summer?)

Origin has a sale on Command and Conquer this week. A big catalog of C&C games for $9.99

C&C Ultimate Collection
C&C 3 Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath
C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight
C&C and the Covert Operations
C&C Generals and Zero Hours
C&C Red Alert 3 and Uprising
C&C Red Alert Couterstrike and Aftermath
C&C Red Alert 2 and Yuri' Revenge
C&C Renegade
C&C Ultimate Collection - Additional Content
C&C Tiberian Sun and Firestorm

I enjoyed the C&C games, I'm tempted to make the purchase. I'll see how I feel after work.

Edit:
The only link I can find for the deal is in the Origin application itself on the startup screen. Clicking the "Mystery Deal" of the week adds it to your cart and reveals the contents.

So the US Senate looks set to pass the Marketplace Fairness Act which would impose a state sales tax on all online purchases equal to those from physical stores. This would mean you'd have to pay sales tax for purchases from Steam, Origin & Amazon (you may already pay tax for Amazon depending on where you live). It hasn't gone through the Senate yet and would still need to go through the House but...

I haven't seen any word on how, if at all, it would affect international sales. If companies like GMG and GamersGate are exempt, it could provide them with a boost. At least for paying MSRP, you could be saving ~5-8% by choosing them over Steam for the game purchase depending on your location.

That doesn't sound particularly fair to the marketplace. In fact, it sounds pretty irrelevant.

Then it won't affect you.

I'm curious what sort of physical presence Valve has in your State that makes them have to pay State sales tax? What State do you live in?

As far as foreign companies having the advantage, they already do with physical goods, right? If you buy something directly from a foreign company and have it imported, you don't pay State sales tax (at least, I'm pretty sure you don't, I rarely handle our purchases). And I'm not sure of any tariffs or the such on imported video game goods.

According to the wiki article you linked it's supposed to affect "out of state" online stores as well.

Out-of-state in this context doesn't necessarily include international; it seems to be talking more about mail order/catalog businesses. More to the point, there's an enforcement mechanism for domestic vendors via the IRS and state tax collection agencies. Extending their reach to everyone on the planet with an internet presence seems a bit trickier.

But I'll happily admit that I don't know the answer.

When the tax thing passes and goes into effect, I wonder if I can setup a bank account and credit/debit card in a State that has low or no sales tax and use that as my billing address to avoid paying any or higher taxes?

EA/Origin charges me the 6% MI sales tax because they have offices in this State somewhere. Pretty sure the only reason the know I'm in Michigan is when I fill out my address for my billing info.

Edit:
That probably wouldn't work. I'd have to have some sort of address, and they probably don't accept PO Box addresses as billing addresses, do they?

You do realize that you have to physically go to the bank in that state in order to open the account, right?

Apparently I could hop over to Delaware. Along with barely being a State, they also don't have a sales tax.
