I gave my bartender who is into video games a gift copy of a humble bundle I picked up awhile ago and he picked up my tab. Best 6 dollar investment ever.

That wouldn't have been an issue if Silk Road was still up.

Like there isn't a new one yet, not to mention a bunch of alternatives.

Tropico 4 Steam Special Edition
Earth 2150 Trilogy
UFO: Afterlight (maybe... if you can gift gifted humble keys. Someone sent me a key but I already had it.)

La-Mulana is $1.50 (90% off) today on Steam. From what I heard it's Contra hard, but still a great game to play.

I see Sanctum 2 is only a couple bucks as a Steam Weekend Deal too. I trialed it - it was a pretty fun game.

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten is 90% off ($1.49) on Steam. Sort of a Tower Defense/RPG hybrid.

GetGamesGo has Borderlands 2 : GOTY edition on sale again for $14.99

Well, I have a copy of Hero of the Kingdom up for grabs now, for a regular as always. I bought that bundle.

It's not a bad game... but I can't say I enjoyed it. It's mostly a big resource management and trading game. Walk around gathering different nodes, trade items for other items, or use items to gather better items. Quests require specific items to progress through the story.

Kingdom of Amalur is the Weekend Deal on Steam, $6 for the base game and $11 for the game and all DLC. Must be due to R.I. not getting the money they wanted from the KoA/Coppernicus IP auction.

Hmmm, I wonder how this works.

Because 38 wasn't the publisher for KoA, EA was. That's why 38 took such a big hit from the game - lack of revenue due the publishing agreement and EA's abysmal lack of marketing for the game (because why do they care - they didn't invest much into the game, and were guaranteed a solid profit not bothering).

I'd IMAGINE that EA controls the pricing of the title. And because it's not a major seller, and it's not an IP they're cultivating, there's no particular reason to keep it from going on sale on Steam.

That, or Steam might just be taking a revenue hit to offer it, because they need to manage their own brand. It's an old game, now, and it's been on super sale a LOT. They probably don't stand to lose much.

38 was the publisher for KoA via Steam. They sold off the publishing rights (for a lump sum) to EA for distribution via physical media and Origin. Then Rhode Island became the holder for the Steam publication rights and sat on them which is why there were virtually no Steam sales on it but sale son the Origin version all the time.

Dunno if the new Steam MSRP drop and sale price is through the RI holder or if they sold the rights to another party (EA, I'd assume).

The one time it went on a Steam sale was sort of amusing. The Amazon rep spent forever trying to get hold of the Rhode Island rep. When he finally did, the RI guy seemed legitimately befuddled by what to do with the thing and Steam but told Tony (Amazon guy) that he'd look into getting keys for Amazon. Instead, he wound up just putting the Steam version on sale without giving Amazon any keys. So Amazon had finally pushed RI into putting the game on sale and yet got nothing out of it. Guess it wasn't amusing for Amazon. But even that was over the summer with nothing since.

As a NJ state employee, this doesn't shock me at all.

I really should grab the DLC. Not that I ever got that far into it (for no reason other than game overload, not because I wasn't thoroughly enjoying it).

It's been on my to-finish list for a long time.

I'm still holding out on someone buying the IP and finishing the MMO.

Amazon's Free App of the Day looks like it's sort of an FTL knock-off. Might be worth looking at if you're an Android tablet user.
