PvE in PvP?Follow

In MoP, it seems like the players with PvE gear are perfectly capable of playing against the players with full PvP gear. It seems like the players with PvP power would have an edge over the PvEers but I see a lot of players running around in battlegrounds with full PvE gear. Someone please explain this to me? Is there an edge to PvP gear still?
