For sharing your knowledge/experience/tips for the new fabled creatures pet quest. (Obviously don't read on if you don't want spoilers.)

Here are my notes on the five I was able to do this morning:

Valley of the Four Winds:
Lucky Yi - Critter - easy as heck
Greyhoof - Beast - nothing about this fight stands out, was medium-easy

Krasarang Wilds:
Skitterer Xi'a - Aquatic - I found this one the hardest

Jade Forest:
Ka'wi the Gorger - Critter - slow speed
Nitun - Critter - slow speed

They're all orange level and they're all solo versus your team of three. I didn't write down hit points but I think they were all in the 4000's. I didn't write down coordinates either but they're all marked on the map if you're tracking the quest. Edit: they also have pet footprints on the map if you're tracking pets, gold instead of green.

They all hit HARD so bringing tanky/healing type pets is a good idea. I used Emerald Whelp/Azure Whelp/Crimson Whelp for all five because I find that versus really hard opponents actually using the appropriate pet type to counter the enemy is rarely as effective as just hitting them with the dragons (unless they're humanoid). I won on the first try each time. Could have easily 2-petted Lucky Yi, but ended Skitterer Xi'a with 2 pets dead and the last one with 43 hp.

Edited again to add: None of these cc'd me or used any abilities that seemed unusual or particularly exciting. They were more-or-less pets I'd seen before, but with supercharged damage and health.

I meant to go looking for some of these last night, but never got around to it. Interested in seeing how they turn out, especially against my hard counters. I think by now I have at least 2 of every type of pet at 25, so at the very least my pets should be taking 33% less damage most of the time.

Did the other five over lunch - or four actually.

Valley of Eternal Blossoms:
No-No - aquatic - beaver
Health 4144
Speed 291
Nothing special, defeated with 2 pets

Townlong Steppes:
Ti'un the Wanderer - aquatic - turtle
Health 4378
Speed 272
You might want to consider bringing some high health pets for this one because he's got Tidal Wave (attacks the whole team) and he's not afraid to use it. One of my back pets who never got into the battle finished with less health than the front pet who did the whole thing. But since I killed him with just one pet who didn't have any strong vs. aquatic abilities, not sure you need to worry about it much.

Dread Wastes:
Gorespine - beast - hedgehog
Health 4066
Speed 272
I found this a tough fight just due to the sheer amount of damage this guy does. Had to try two combos before I could beat him.

KLS:
Dos-Ryga - aquatic - fish
Health 4207
Speed 287
Use pets with burrow/lift-off/etc. and save those abilities to keep Whirlpool from hitting them. If you do that he's easy to beat.

And best for last...

Kafi - dunno - dunno
Sadly I did not get to fight Kafi because the geniuses who designed this quest put him in a phased part of the zone. Is that not awesome? But wait, there's more!

Here's the good part: you can't get to him unless you do a quest called My Husband. But if you've already done the quest Beyond the Wall, you cannot get My Husband ever.

If you're in that boat and really want your panda prize now, you'll have to level an alt, complete the quest chain (not sure whether you also have to complete the whole zone), get My Husband WITHOUT doing its mutually exclusive quests, of which there are two, according to Wowhead, and then you can see him. Personally I'm just going to sit it out for a bit and see if they change it. Although why this issue wasn't noted on the PTR is beyond me.

Kind of frustrating that I killed 9/10 pretty easily and then can't get to the last one to finish the quest.

I got all of them this morning and while I did need two tries for one of them and had two or three which were rather close I found them much easier than the Pandaren Spirit Tamers.
A hint I got from WoWInsider (afaik) that helped tremendously was to bring a flyer (example) with the ability Glowing Toxin. Since it does % damage it really helps with bringing these 4k+ healthpools down.

I also find the Spirit Tamers to be much more difficult. I think more of the difficulty here is that it's a daily where you have to go around and kill 10 Fabled Creatures just to get a chance (~10-20%) at another differently colored panda.

I agree the spirit tamers are much harder. I finally got my 1 of each family to 25 achievement so went around to the spirit tamers to see if having better composition made them easier. Nope. Still a PITA. And not one good thing in the bags either!

I also did the fabled creatures last night and even though I got an upgrade stone out of the bag I'm not going to do them again. Takes too long. If they were each dailies with a smaller award or something I'd probably do it, but all 10 for a couple of useless pet treats and a small chance at a stone isn't worth it. (And it was only a dragonkin stone. I have too many dragonkin already.)
