I haven't really played since October of last year and it seems a lot has changed(to me at least). My Paladin is really getting boring. So I have decided to make a new character. Right now I am going through the goblin area for the first time and I find it to be the worst of all starting areas actually.

Anyways, I was going Mage. I figure water elemental and such should make it easier to level, but I worry about the low armor aspect of it. I really don't know what class to try again. I am not into PvP much, because it seems like I always get camped by a rogue. I am more of a random dungeon and PvEer. The only thing I don't like about it is that it seems that DPS takes forever to get a random. I find healing to still be pretty decent for me, though it does get tiring always being in the back.

I was thinking Priest, though how is the PvE solo aspect with a priest because I don't solo much. As for hybrid classes, I have all three and they are ok, but I would rather fully specialize in one aspect rather than 2 or 3. Any suggestions are welcome and thank you for reading.

Roll tank, get to 14, run dungeons until you hit cap.

You never said what your highest is... so if your paladin is getting boring, maybe try a different spec?

If you have a character at cap, use it for the BoA gear(s) and you won't have to worry about gear so much.

If you want a class to PvE with some randoms in, I'd go Druid or Hunter (BM spec). Druid can play all the roles and that can come handy when questing. Hunter (BM spec) relies on the pet to tank while s/he stands back and pewpews.

My paladin is almost at 45. I usually tank instances, that's how I got from 30-44. I was thinking priest because I know they are in high demand as well.

Smiley: dubious I am guessing you haven't been through some of the other starting zones. Tauren, dwarf and gnome comes to mind.

Shamans are fun to play as, especially enhancement. The only downside is enhance doesn't really get fun till level 30. Druid's are enjoyable also. It should also be noted that you should have a second spec if you plan on doing any serious raiding. While for the most part you can get away with just the one spec certain fights will benifit if you have the option to change. For example, certain bosses only need 1 tank. So if you had a dps spec with decent gear you could contribute to the actual boss fight other than poking it with your sharp stick.

I took a priest from 1-85 mainly using the dungeon finder.

Disc is fairly decent for soloing, so I would quest while the Random Dungeon Finder was in queue. It was a fairly painless process, however I was doing it on rested XP as I had 3 lvl 85's & one of those was raiding 3 nights a week or more. I found by the time I got to Northrend that it paid to just quest with the random 5 man in order to clear out the quests for them.

As for end game, it depends on server but both healers & tanks are in demand. Tanks are harder to gear up, but you will always have a spot if you know what you are doing. Healing has always been easy to gear up for pve.

I like playing a priest better than any other class I've tried (8 classes over 80). Play the class you think you will enjoy. Priests can PVE just fine. You won't kill things quite as fast on disc than some classes, but you will be more than capable and faster questing than holy. You also have the option to dual spec shadow if you like. I'm disc and love it as my main spec, although I am dual spec holy for 25 mans.

Play what you like.
