Hello everyone,

I last played World of Warcraft back at the release of Cataclysm. I had enjoyed the game up until that point since my own introduction to the game back in 2006 (off and on, taking a few breaks away). I generally enjoyed the game, but one particular aspect I really wish they had added back then that I had missed from Everquest 2, was some kind of wardrobe feature enabling me to customize my characters appearance to my liking. From what I have gathered, there is now such a function in World of Warcraft by way of the transmogrification feature recently implemented. Based upon what I have read, a play may use any green, blue or purple items for their appearance (converting their current gear with the appearance of gear selected). I was just curious if there is any kind of level restriction regarding this feature (i.e. could a low level character utilize this?). In addition, and more importantly, I seem to have lost (or perhaps thrown away) my authenticator. Upon trying to get access to my account again, following the prompts on the website, I was asked to provide a I.D.?! To put it simply, what exactly do they (Blizzard) require in order to 'remove' an authenticator so that I may receive access to my account again? More importantly, should I just re-buy the game and avoid the trouble? It is very likely I will be starting a new character upon my return.

Thanks in advance.

For transmogging your gear the only restrictions are the gear must be of the same type (both must be agility leather, intellect mail, strength plate, and so on).You also must be able to equip the item yourself. You can transmog a level 85 epic into a level 5 green if you want to, but not the other way around. Some other random goofy items cannot be transmogged to either (like a fish offhand or a broom weapon).

As for your authenticator you should be able to resolve the problem with a relativly short phone call to customer support. They will be able to remove your authenticator for you. Blizzard customer support is very good and the biggest hassle will most likely be 20 mins tops on hold.

Hey, Thank you for the Reply!

In regard to what you had said about the transmogrification, I could not be a level 5 and use the feature to gain the appearance of a higher level item I was unable to equip, correct? I think I understand how it may work, although, flat-out appearance slots are much more simplistic. Regardless, I am very happy they added such a feature to World of Warcraft (even more so, that this will work with weapons / shields). I guess I will have to give their customer support a call. I really wish I did not discard (what I think happened while cleaning up my desk) my authenticator... I honestly was not sure if I would ever play this game again, but, after an adventure into a bunch of other MMOs the couple of years, I have had a desire to play again. As odd as it may sound, the transmogrification feature has allot to do with it (It would always pain me to move from a great looking armor set, to a less than desirable one due to stat upgrades).

Thanks again.

Correct. Welcome back to the game. you picked an exciting time with all sorts of Mists of Pandaria information being released on Monday. If you do decide to use your old account there is a Scroll of Ressurection program that offers great rewards for returning players. If you want one PM me the account e-mail address or character name and realm and I will send one. Welcome back and have fun!

Wow, the scroll of resurrection has unbelievable rewards! I think I may have to take you up on that offer if that is something you would be willing to do. I will have to get everything worked out with the authenticator though first. On a side note, I had received random notification emails with links claiming that my account was to be banned if I did not go to the direct link and contact Blizzard. I haven't received any of those emails in awhile, but I had taken it as a scam as I had an inactive account. In addition, I had logged in to my account when Blizzard offered some free playtime awhile ago and everything seemed fine upon briefly going back. Guessing that was just a scam... Regardless, I will call the customer service tomorrow probably, and send you a PM here. Would be nice to get a boost to 80 on a character, although, It would feel weird playing a character like that (at least for me).

This is incorrect. Stats don't have anything to do with transmogrification, just armor type. Warriors/Pallies/DKs can use any plate, Hunters/Shamans any mail, Rogues/Druids any leather and Priests/Mages/Warlocks any cloth.

Huh? I don't follow...

I transmog all sorts of stuff on my lower level toons; assuming they meet the level requirements to use the items.

/facepalm. The ilvl 200 restriction is for reforging, I'm not really sure why I assumed it applied to both. I'm going to fix my post, thanks for pointing that out! And because I had the wrong info stuck in my brain, I hadn't bothered trying to transmog any of my lowbies so I'm glad to hear I was wrong.
