i have set up auctioneer on my new mac.
but it seems to have forgotten my settings
I think i had it set so that each page of auctions sen were in ascending order
but it seems to have forgotten
it quite disconcerting to see a very high price before a very low one!
is there a way i can reset i so that i get all the lower priced items first?

If you installed a new copy of auctioneer on a new mac, then yes, it's gonna lose your settings more than likely. Try copying the auctioneer folder from your old comp to the new one.
I am pretty sure you can click on the prices in the auction pane and have it sort items by price and/or by percentage of price
e.g item x is 97% of auctioneers price vs item y which is 120%

Also, you might want to look at your WTF folder and hunt down any saved variables.
Usually they come in two types -- a general saved variables and a addon specific.
