Sometimes I just get nostalgic for the days when group conversation was more than:

"y u roll need bro?"

"STFU NUB"

*link recount*

*a vote kick has been initiated....*

... and repeat...

"Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name. "

On board with the idea of scaling back rehashed content.

LFR is neat, it allows people to raid without any of the skill requirements. I hope it allows them to tune normal content to a more Ulduar/prenerf Firelands like degree.

Despite my dislike of rehashed content, I feel they did a decent job with Ragnaros. Mainly due to it being a returning character with enough of a twist that it was enjoyable. It was also a new dungeon. I don't mind tip of the hats, returning lore characters, or nostalgia. I am not a fan of a straight lift of a previous dungeon with only minor tweaks or nerfs. Though Deadmines did a fairly decent job of mixing old and new. I would have rather enjoyed a new dungeon that expanded on the original story.

This. Deadmines was a freaking classic and they just had to mess with it. More stuff in the game, Blizzard, less reworking of existing stuff. Auberdine would like to agree with me, except someone went ahead and CRUSHED that classic as well! And why? So we could have a swirly whirlpool in the middle of a freaking forest and some umad brodragon that no one got to see for the first year of the expansion anyway? Good times, Blizzard. How about you just sink Kalimdor to make room for Pandaria and stuff?

I'm not mad.

Thank you for tuning in to the Alliance News Network. In today's news Kalimdor, formerly home to a bunch of nonhumans, mysteriously sank under the sea. We mourn the loss of Jania Proudmoore but are grateful that nobody else important was hurt. When asked for comment, Horde players blamed the event on Garrosh Hellscream. "Sure we have no idea why the entire continent dropped half a mile, but you can bet it wouldn't have occurred if Thrall were still in charge," said one interviewee.

Would that mean if they brought back the Horde they would become rehashed content?

As for Deadmines, I think we're having a terrible case of the nostalgia-bug here. The only boss that involved any real thinking was Mr. Smite and the trash pulls in the foundry. Otherwise, it was a dull, boring instance (sans an interesting story). The reworking of it changed a lot of things, but I think it still is true to Deadmines while bringing it out of a design philosophy that traces at least back into the RPGs of the 90s. Yes, I miss the old Deadmines, but I also really enjoy the new one.

As for LFR and the future of raiding, I agree that Blizz will need to continue to find ways to help you find people to play with, and scale things back to focus on smaller groups and easier content that can be accomplished by random strangers thrown together. I am not one of those Blizzard-bashers or frequent announcers of the death of WoW, but one cannot deny the circle of life. This game is not going to grow again, ever. But its subscriber base is still more than big enough to make pushing out new content profitable. I suspect that in order for Blizzard to adapt to that, they will need to strike a new balance, and the days when 25 or 40 organized guild members are required to see content have to become a thing of the past.

Some of it's just the people you choose to play with or end up with because of the guild you're in.
Take my current one... 400+ players, guys jump on randomly decide then and there that they want to raid so recruit for a raid from who's online... doesn't matter what you're doing... c'mon all you 85's don't tell me you're not geared... actually I'm not. I can't seem to get the score up enough because I need helm and shoulders, which it seems I can only get by raiding.... I'm working on it by collecting my valor in the meantime to maybe squeeze the score up enough by upgrading the 359 item to 378/397. Besides... I was already "in" a raid when he was demanding all of us to join him... something from LK, don't remember which one as we ran 4 of them in short order to knock out some old achievements.

Who was that? Oh right a group of 4-6 of us... started with 4, 2 joined in before we all had to go our separate ways. They're in a guild of their own so they can do their own thing, and I think I'll be jumping ship on the level 25 guild with all these crazy "demanding" if you're 85 you must be geared to raid when they want regardless of what you're doing to go join these "friends" who run content for the fun of it. Might be fun to actually take part in leveling a guild too as a group instead of just solo as I've been doing with one... level 25 guilds aren't always the "End all be all" though they do offer raiding after you've paid X amount towards repairs or some such BS when the guild has... tons... of gold ;P
