where do i get the key to Karazham?

The key is no longer required to enter Karazhan. Just right click on the front gate and stroll inside.

Remember how fun it was to get attuned for the various raids? It felt like an accomplishment even before you set foot into a raid.

I left a guild over drama with trying to help people get attuned. One of the best things that ever happened to me in game, IMO.

Karazhan attunement questline was okay. Reasonably epic and easy to do on your own (if you exclude the dungeons, there you needed a group, but a PUG would do). The Mount Hyjal one however wasn't quite as fun, especially if you needed to get stragglers attuned.

Back in the day getting Kara attuned was almost inevitable. You were running all those dungeons anyway for gear and rep (especially when heroic keys were at revered.)

Yeah, it's the "attune for X to be able to access it to attune for Y to run it and attune for Z to let your alt run the raid your guild's actually doing" that got tedious. First time through they were fun.

I had an absolute blast getting attuned for some of the raids. Granted, it was my first character and only character at the time. I liked the notion of do X, then Y, then you can access Z. I can see why it would get boring and redundant for those who have multiple characters.

Actually, my favorite questline was for fishing. I think it was in Theramore and you had to run around all over to get from 225-300 fishing. Once complete, you get a blue fishing pole. I find that to a be nice little hidden gem questline just for that pole.

To answer your question Proud you start doing the quests in front of Kara. One is a "kill x" and another is a "use y at z" style quests. After those are done you will get a quest to go to where Dalaran used to be. Follow the chain, do some dungeons, and BAM you will have your key. That is, of course, if they still have the key quest chain still in the game. They might have removed it. Not sure why but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Ha ha. Back in the day that quest was actually required for leveling fishing past 225. You couldn't just train 225-300 from a trainer. A while back they let you get everything from a trainer but they kept the quest line and added the pole as a reward.

I totally remember, I had to do it. I believe it's still in the game though, you can do it on your alts.
First aid triage anyone?

Heh heh. Still not as bad as having to go to Uldaman to train enchanting 225-300.

One does still does not simply walk into Moten Core ...

Unchanged attunement because it was un-epic to begin with.

But you can just walk into Molten Core without being attuned. You just can't use the guy to teleport you in without doing his little quest. BWL is the same way in that you can still enter through UBRS but you can't use the orb unless you did the attunement quest.

I liked attunments - felt like you accomplished something when you got it - especially the really long, involved ones. I can understand why they removed them but I do miss them a little.

I definitely have to agree with this. Some of my best memories involve running BRD simply for the guy in the prison. And that slow ride through SW following his march into town is probably one of the most epic memories I retain.

Attunements should have been account-bound, but I definitely miss em.

I think there should still be attunements. But make them BoA.

I do regret that I never got to do the Alliance version of the Ony attunement that you mention. I remember seeing the fight in the throne room and wondering what it was all about but it was removed before I had a character on Alliance able to do it. Of course by the time I did the Ony attunement on Horde side, they had already moved Rexxar to Outland so I didn't have to wander all over Desolace looking for him like I remember seeing other people do in the past. Heheh

As for them being account-bound, it would have been nice though I was rather proud of the fact that I had several characters attuned for Karazhan soon after they hit 70. I think I had my Shaman attuned by 69 (got a Warlock to summon me to do the Arc fragment) and the guild let me come to Kara in an alt run on him. :)

That quest line is still in the game and goes onwards. It's just that now, according to WoWhead, it awards the player with level 70 epic gear items instead.

Glad they didn't remove the quest. Was rather interesting and always a good nostalgia run on alts. Smiley: tongue

- Hey, all!, haven't been around for a while just checking in!

I miss the attunements from when the game had them. It was a good time to go through and get everything done. I actually enjoyed the MH and BT attunements as it really brought the story together and got you to complete the previous tier before moving into the next one. I do wish that it was account bound, though.

It is also important to remember that I believe eventually [if not at the beginning] Vashj and Kael dropped an extra item or two for people that weren't there for the fight to get them attuned as well. At least I seem to remember that being used for a guildy or two.

Man I just had a flash back to Kazham keys in FFXI.

Just jump off the roof and go through as a ghost. Seriously though, they should bring attunements back in MoP and increase the xp it takes to get to cap, etc. Revert and get the community back together :)

This.

Bring them back. At least for "regular" mode (you could still keep LFR versions at either no or dumbed down attunements). I do think though, that attunements to just enter the dungeon should be rather straightforward and relatively easy (time consuming is okay). Otherwise you'll get to a point where you can't find anyone to run them with you because its "old" content.

In all honesty, I'd like to see the game return to a similar setup as BC. Where content remained useful up until the end. As it is right now, raids like BWD and BoT are all now seen as obsolete. Much like what happened to Ulduar. Obviously, new content should have a higher precedent, but not so much that content in the expansion becomes useless. I just don't get why they want to make 5 man dungeons make content from the CURRENT expansion obsolete.
