Thank you for this list, Rawdeal! Very helpful.

This would be INVALUABLE especially during the Lunar Festival coin-collecting *if* it allowed one to enter the opposing faction city. I have a feeling it doesn't but that would be major cool!!! (Now that has me wondering if the various forms an EQ Enchanter can cast on herself allows her in cities she normally couldn't get in. Hmmmm...will have to experiment with that.)

This was the only one I've never heard of and I was all excited about it, but it's Horde only. :( We have so many people in our raid group who have Orb of the Sin'dorei that we frequently call out "orb time" and fight the boss as blood elves, cause we're dorks like that.

The same clickable list of these items can be found in wowhead under many of the items listed, eg: for Pygmy Oil

Thanks for pointing out this list Raw.

Unless they changed it, you could always get into the opposing faction's cities... It's just a matter of whether or not you'd get attack. If I remember correctly, even with the Orb, your name would still be red. The only exception to this is Dalaran. That's the only place where you're unable to enter the opposing faction's area.

Little note about this one: If you are standing very close to a player when you use the potion (like, melee range close), you will transform into that player. This works even if they are already transformed. So, I could use the potion to transform into someone using the Legendary staff mount (which itself turns you into a dragon) or the Vial of the Sands mount. I wouldn't be able to fly, but I'd look like the dragon.

If you are not standing within melee range of a player upon use, you turn into a random race with a random set of gear. There's some fun results you can get.

That is awesome, I did not know about that. I think I will have to pick some up for raids this week and have a little fun. Which reminds me i'm running dangerously low on nogginfogger.

Fun thing you can do as a guild

Go to Gurabashi arena and give everyone "Savory Deviate Delight" , now make a competition between Pirate and Ninja. Little gold for the winning team.

Right...I meant "and not get attacked." Smiley: wink I did log into EQ and took my high elf enchanter near the entrance to the dark elf city. When I did a /con (consider) on the city guard without the illusion I got "Scowls at you ready to attack." When I cast the dark elf illusion on her then did another /con, this time I got "Looks at you dubiously." I waltzed past the guards without them attempting to attack, but when I got within the city itself an NPC out of nowhere said "Die like the dog you are!" and jumped me. That was strange. The illusion got me past one set of NPCs, but not others.

I imagine an item like that was just buggy. Works against some, not against others, etc. But I never played EQ, so I wouldn't be able to say for sure.

The one explanation for this offhand that I can recall is this: It wasn't the racial faction/reputation that may've been the factor here, it may have been your class.

My main then was a troll warrior, and while ogres were generally considered as a "bad" race ally, that didn't stop the warrior affiliated ogres from barely tolerating my presence.

Every racial class had a reputation (or pretty darn close, seemed like it) and I prolly don't have to remind you how tedious rep grinding was back then. /shudder

I thought of a few others though I don't think that any of them are attainable anymore...

Arcanite Ripper - transforms the user into a male undead 'rocking out'

Amulet of Draconic Subversion - transforms the user into a black dragonkin but only works in Emberstrife's Den in Dustwallow

Rotten Apple - disguises the user as a member of the Scarlet Crusade - only had 5 charges and was only usable in Eastern Plaguelands (or possibly only in certain subzones there).

Darkspear Pride - transforms the user into a warrior of the Darkspear tribe

Gnomeregan Pride - transforms the user into a Gnomish warrior

I know these aren't much use to those who want to start collecting such things but if you happen to see someone in an unusual form, it might be from one of these.

I think I finally discarded my Amulet of Draconic Subversion because I just don't go to that cave in Dustwallow much at all but I'm pretty sure that I still have a Rotten Apple sitting in my bank.

As for the ones on the main list, the more useful ones are the ones that don't have to be in an item slot to be used. The Faded Wizard Hat was much more fun when you didn't have to leave it on to keep the effect. The Orb of Deception takes up a trinket slot so you can't really use it in raids without giving up valuable stats.

Ancient Amber - while not quite a 'transformation', it might be something to include in the main list. It shrinks and encloses the user in a block of Amber.

Vrykul Drinking Horn - it doesn't transform the user but it does increase their size and puts a horned Vrykul helmet on the character's head and makes them do a fierce gesture and growl. The fun thing about this item is that you can use it as often as you like since it has a very short cooldown.

I was thinking that may have been what you were talking about =P I've never tested it out though, but that would be interesting. Wonder if it'd be anything like sneaking on a rogue, where some NPCs have the detect invisibility on, they'd be able to detect a fraud! lol

I have one bag on my main with damn near all those items in it. I think I finally put the rotten apple in the bank though, was starting to stink.

The Arcanite Ripper is a lot of fun. When the new Darkmoon Faire first came, I'd jump on stage with it all the time when the Chieftains played, then entertain whispers for the next hour of bewildered people.

I sure hope I can still use it on my hunter in the somewhat near future.......

You should be able to. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Hunters would still be able to equip melee weapons for dress up or something like that. I'm not sure if my Hunter will still be able to get the fun proc from the old ZG fist weapons though since the proc kind of requires being in combat (turns the user into the Tiger god avatar briefly).

More than likely. In a situation of going into enemy territory for some reason, invisible is always best, except when one is deeply inside a place with high level enemies and invis drops. Not pretty. That happened to me once in the early stages of the game (2000ish) and even the highest levels in my guild were perplexed how to get my corpse out safely. (This was when all equipment, inventory, etc. stayed on the corpse so retrieving it was essential; that has all changed now.) Iirc, it took several hours and a group to retrieve my corpse...lol. Good times.

I LOVE my EQ Druid Innate Camo - never drops for a specified period of time. Really wish my WoW Pally had that. *Grins*

Good point, except in this case my class, enchanter, also exists as a class for Dark Elves, which was the area I went (Neriath.) Oh yes, rep grinding was another "fun" time. I killed so many Frost Giants that the Coldain Dwarves hold a festival whenever my druid appears in Thorgadin. Smiley: lol
