Love Fest Items GoneFollow

So, not having read *when* on February 19 the Love Festival would be over, I assumed it would be until tonight. When I logged last night I had plans for each of my characters based on the amount of love tokens they had/could get easily today.

I log in first character a few minutes ago and...all Love Fest-related items were gone! I just stared at the empty slots in the bags and my first thought was - "I've been hacked." Interestingly I had just received what I'm pretty sure was a phishing email about Facebook and Google accounts being hacked and to change passwords, etc. I quickly logged in second character; same thing. This time I wandered outside the Inn in SW to see that all the Love Fest NPCs, etc. were gone. (It looked so empty...lol.) Light bulb went on; pulled up the Love Fest info online and saw that it was over as of 3 am this morning.

Having only ever done one festival prior (The Lunar Festival) and the extra coins remained, this really surprised me. I'm relieved I wasn't hacked, though.

Ooooo...all the "thank you" cards from handing in necklaces are gone as well. At least I still have Peddlefeet.

Many items have "Requires (holiday event)", and while that might not sound like a warning of any kind, those items will only exist while that event is active.

Seems fewer holiday items have the "Duration: X days" listing anymore.

It's certainly a shocker the first time it happens... elder coins is one of the few persistent items (besides the pet / mount rewards) I was sure that coming up to Love-fest that I had either love tokens or charms/bracelets from a prior year (altoholic was telling me so at least) yet when the event began they were not to be found anywhere.

Actually I'm kind of glad they left, as I never even thought that the tokens might persist this time around and spent all my extra tokens on characters DONE with the achievement to feed stuff to characters that hadn't started it.
Just have to make sure next year I start with the event earlier and be consistent if I want to earn that 270 token mount rather than dropping 40K plus on it which is what it spiked to for price once the event ended and couldn't be obtained for a year.

I'd agree, it not for how terribly tedious farming 270 tokens is. If they like appended quests for running dungeons or doing dailies it'd be great. Or had mini-games... but then, that'd require Blizzard to put some time and effort into it and we know how allergic they are to that.

In a way, I'm glad everything disappears, because my being a packrat means I'd end up saving everything til next year. Bag space for packrats is...problematical.

One thing I don't like is that for new-ish/new-er players who haven't done a festival yet and aren't 100% in tune with the whole "when do dailies reset" and other time sensitive things, is that there isn't an in your face notification about when the festivals end. Yeah they are on the calendar but it's kind of hard to read sometimes depending on what other resets you have coming up. Not really sure how to solve it, and thankfully it's never caused me a problem, but I'd be pissed if I had gathered 250 tokens, thinking I could login tomorrow and do my dailies to get the mount only to login and have all those tokens just be gone...

I'm one of those determined / half OCD kinda players so spending 15 minutes a day in Icecrown wiping out those damn pally wannabe's with their slowing shout doesn't bother me much. But then again I'm on a druid so I could fly in as bird, instashift to cat, swipe, instashift to bird to wipe the slow and move on. In 15-20 minutes I easily got 130 charms (13 bracelets). Add those tokens into my dailies and I had the mount in less than one week. Yeah, it's definitely a more tedious task than some people want to spend their time doing but I didn't find it that obnoxious. The real kicker is, I'll never use the mount because I'm a druid and only got it to increase my mount count for new achievements I expect them to add with MoP.

Another thing to "Watch" for newcomers who DO check the calendar for events, make sure you know whether your clock is set for local time or server time, and check when you're on your server not in an instance server. Had a buddy try to tell me he'd log in Sunday and do them because it would end at 6 am his time (he checked while in a dungeon run and saw 3 am server as the "event end time"... events usually end at "midnight server time" so that threw red flags to me, once he was done the run and realized that it did end Saturday night he bought the rest of the bracelets to buy the tokens he'd need :P Rather than missing out.

Definitely in this crowd. Getting those bank slots back is a bit of a gift. We won't talk about the bags full of wands and bunny ears. Smiley: oyvey

Those would be so much more fun if you could use them on anyone instead of just people in your party.

I don't usually save the wands past the holiday anymore. I keep some of the outfits but even most of those can be replaced the next year if need be. I'm just a bit miffed that I know that I deleted some of those coins from the Lunar Festival last year to make space and suddenly they put in something that was actually worth spending them on this year. :/ Still, I think their new way of handling holiday currencies is an improvement over the old ways. (I still have old Brewfest tokens on some alts from the first year it was out.)
