i'm not a top player. the gold in my account is not enough for getting my favorite gear. i can't find a trustable and safe play to get more gold? and i never bought gold online before.what kind of quest can earn lots of gold? i need your suggestions.

Just for a moment, I'll assume you are on the level. First, never buy gold. It isn't necessary, and the lowlife who sell it usually steal it from other players to sell to you.

As far as making gold of your own, you could do daily quests or just about any gathering activity. Mining and herbalism are still pure profit when you sell at the auction house. Personally, I make all I need though buying and selling tradegoods at the AH. Some of my friends work other markets, but the idea is the same. It's actually a fun part of the game.

I've always found just playing the game ends up earning you quite a bit of gold. Collect what you can while you level, and don't buy stuff on the AH, just sell.

Do your 25 dailies everyday. Pick up some gathering professions and level them, selling things on the AH. Learn to read the AH and play the Buy / Sell game. Go out and mindlessly kill things and sell the useable loot on the AH. There are quite a few ways to earn gold out there that doesn't involve buy gold from people who stole it from other players in the first place.

I repeat, DO NOT BUY GOLD. YOU ARE ONLY HURTING THE GAME AS A WHOLE AND ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNT INFORMATION. BESIDES, BUYING GOLD MAKES YOU A COMPLETE TOOL.

If/when you have reached level 85 solo Karazhan or Molten Core (for example). It might not be as profitable as playing the AH but, at least in my opinion, it is way more fun. Also you get reputation, achievements and a shot at a mount (Huntsman in Karazhan) and a legendary (Ragnaros in Molten Core).

And I repeat again: do not, under any circumstances, buy gold! Apart from the ethical problems you also risk your own account.

You shouldn't be buying all of your gear on the ah. Are you running your dungeons every day? By doing randoms, (if you aren't 85) you get a satchel with some gold and a decent blue to use or sell, and if you are 85, you earn various currency that allows you to buy gear with that.

I prefer gathering mats to producing items to sell on the ah. If you mine, skin or herb, sell that stuff man. A lot of people are not inclined to farm mats, and if they're willing to pay you for your work, that's a good way of transferring their gold to your pockets.
I can spend a half hour fishing the coastline of Uldum, and earn 3-400 gold just for the fish used in higher level foods. If you can cook them yourself, it's usually more. My jc spent an few hours mining in Uldum, prospected the ore and sold 25 carnelians that go on my server for 125g each. (I like Uldum lol)

Get the add-on Auctionator or Auctioneer. It helps you to determine your sales prices. Doesn't help if you throw stuff on the ah, and you're the highest price of the day.
And please for the love of all that is holy, do not put 5 pages of single items on the ah for bid only. People use harsh words when they're plowing through pages of that crap.

Like everybody else here said Do Not Buy Gold. The stuff they're selling is usually from someone else's hacked account.

I agree. I'm all about setting a personal goal and going for it. I like buying and selling on the AH because I can make money doing just 30 minutes a day if I want. The rest of the time has gotten me my other goals like Loremaster, 50 exalted, 100 mounts (Rivendare's last week). Set a goal and go for it. Vendor junk and send the rest to your banker. The gold will come.

This ^^ I'm a new player and really pleased at the gear/gold I get from simply questing. I may not/probably don't have *the* most "uber" equipment, but it works for my level and where I fight. I also have mining as a profession and sell items I acquire through that profession on the AH, as well as other profession materials I loot but again, I do this while I'm questing. Thus far I haven't had to go out and "grind" for anything to sell.

Edit - Doing random/dailies has been mentioned twice thus far. Except for the current Love Festival, are there random and or other daily quests?

For lower level dailies...

I'm pretty sure once you hit 70 you can still do the dailies on Quel'Danas (or whatever that island is).

Lower than 70 the ones you can for sure do are the fishing and cooking dailies. (Org, UC, and TB for Horde... don't know about Alliance) Those one net you money, rep, xp, and a one point bump in your profession (fishing or cooking). So ya know, even at level 5 or so you can begin the fun grind that is dailies. =)

There are dailies hubs scattered all over. The Wildhammer faction has a hub in Twilight Highland, Therezane has a hub in Deepholme, and Uldum has two dailies for the Rahmaken faction.

Tol Barad has a hub available at all times and a second hub on the island itself when your faction controls it.

There is also the Molten Front dailies that become available once they are unlocked through a small quest chain in Mount Hyjal. If I remember right the quest chain is started from the Hero's Call board.

I decided to switch to the "Dark side" for a bit. I'd always wanted a Worgen, so I made a pair that I dual-box... and within 2 days I had 300 gold in the bank. My toons were barely level 15. All I did was mine copper as I found it, doing all the regular quests, then selling it on the AH. I didn't spend hours farming or anything. This was the copper I just came across during the normal routine of questing.

There are MANY ways to make gold, easily, no matter what your level, WITHOUT resorting to selling your soul to gold sellers.

Another thing about running dungeons is that they drop a lot of fabric. If you';re not a tailor or doing first aid, fabric is always a solid AH seller. Right now on main server, wool is selling for anywhere from 2-2.5 gold per piece. Embersilk and frostweave prices are downright scandalous. Many mobs drop fabric, but in dungeons its much more common. Also you can sell a lot of the low level gear you find. Good grey pieces will bring 3-15 G each, greens to 50 or so, blues up to several hundred. On solo through Blackfathom or Shadowfang (among others), can easily net several hundred G with no effort or risk.

@dadanox - Thank you for posting that link to AH buying/selling. Great help for me.

@zestra & CaptinXeith - Thank you re: the dailies. Smiley: smile I had no idea. Soooo much to learn in this game.

@Ollamnh - Ack!!! I've been selling greys to vendors because I didn't think they were worth anything. Thank you for cluing me into that.

After reading this thread I'm tempted to take up jewel crafting. I mine so many gems that are just sitting in my bank.

The trick is not to be greedy. Undercut, undercut, undercut! Say you'll only net 3GP from a blade. But a vendor would only pay you 30 Silver. Instant 10,000% profit. The pieces you don't sell can still be dumped to vendors or innkeepers. If its a good piece, grey or green, I'll often offer it a second time - sometimes timing is everything.

What I truly hate is having to dump good soulbound stuff to vendors for coppers on the gold. I can't even give it to to other players and my alts. I thought enchanting might be a good solution, but the cost and effort of leveling enchanting to the point where selling the rendered mats pays big has pretty much chilled my enthusiasm.

Cloth for tailoring CAN be expensive but doesn't have to be. All dungeons drop scads of cloth. Cloth to sell might be even easier to gather in this way. I don't let it worry me that the dungeon or area is 20 levels below me.. The point is profit, swatting mobs to get their stuff is like stealing candy from a baby. Purists might look down on it, but the candy (i.e. LOOT) goes a long way to salving your conscience. Being able to drop 4K G on a flight license pr 500 GP on an uber weapon and not even blink -priceless!

Yeah, the transmogrification thing has really opened up an unofficial new profession; gear farming.

A lot of the green sets from the 20-40 dungeons are in really high demand and go for 200-2000g a piece. I took my rogue into SM to get the Interogator's Poker and decided to clear the place. I landed 2 Battleforge mail pieces and 2 Mail Combat pieces. These are sets that I regularly see for 1500-2000g/set piece on my AH.

I kept them myself but could very easily have gotten 2k instantly if I lowballed the AH, maybe 6k if I was willing to wait. Right now I think farming greens is far more profitable than any actual profession.

I've been buying and reselling greens off the AH for 350g for the popular transmog sets. At that price and just doing it casually, I've made 45 000g in the last 30 days. It's easy to do and doesn't require a ton of gold to start up.

I always found that gold farming was always the best way to get gold.

I don't know what you people are talking about, but I can't think of any quest in-game that gives just gold.

After 80 or so, that's about all quests give.

I was looking around my achievements, and stumbled upon the the statistics, Character tab, money earned in the AH. I have an auctioneer on both factions. I wonder how I'm... OMG over a million gold in earnings. I've had some fun. Now, back to saving.

I can usually also make 100g, if not more, just running dungeons if you enjoy them. (This is if you are at max level). Grays, also, don't really provide anything to anyone other than just to collect random things (Steamy Romance Novel comes to mind). Which is why people usually just say to vendor them, but hey, if it brings a couple pieces of gold, I'm all in. =P

Yup yup. Bonus if you take the time to collect few pieces and put them up together.

The Mrs. is sitting on a lot of gold with nothing to spend it on at the moment. She dropped nearly 2k for some of the Battleforge set the other day. My server isn't nearly as lucrative in that respect, but I can make an quick couple hundred if I come across something skimpy.

When that fails it's back to my old job of beating people up and taking their lunch money. That and glyphs, <3 glyphs.
